Alarm question, shock sensor function test.,
 

Before I visit the dealer I would like to see If someone could help me identify the sensor in the pictures attached.
It is located under the steering column, zip tied to the wiring harness. I would like to just remove it, and have install the one in thread

I don’t believe it is working. I have turned the sensitivity adjustment and there is no change. The alarm wont trigger regardless of how hard I hit the windows. If I hit the windows any harder they will break.,
If there is an alarm shop you recommend, I will travel to have it repaired, or function tested. ( long beach to San Diego)

That isn't the shock sensor. That is the control box for the sensor. The shock sensor should be a much smaller box sometimes clear with a sensitive spring inside that senses the vibration. There should be just a couple wires coming out of it. On older cars from the 90s and early 2000s they were typically mounted in the engine bay attached to the firewall. But that all depends on who installed it. Try looking there. It shouldn't be zip tied. It should be bolted or screwed rigid to that chassis somewhere to absorb chock throughout the car. Ill try to find a pic of a typical one.

looks like an aftermarket alarm to me. Can you see the brand on the box. I can't make it out in the picture.

Did you try looking up "pursuit" online and contacting them directly?

Definitely aftermarket security system, not OEM. Does the LED blink or light up? It may be in valet mode, if you have the remote for it usually you open the door press a combination of buttons to turn it back on.

The LED mounted on the lower dash panel does not blink, flash, or come on under any circumstance, to be clear, the alarm light in the gauge cluster operates correctly. They (selling dealer) did not supply remotes or a manual for this after market alarm.


It does not appear to have any sensors plug in to the controller, but when it comes to alarms my knowledge is very limited.


From the list of Accessory in the link below, I think it is a safe bet to say, it is missing sensors to even operate correctly, or for that matter at all. I just want to be sure, that when I when return to the selling dealer, I have my facts covered.

The blinking light in the instrument cluster is for the Immobilizer system. That is the "chip key" system. It is not a factory alarm light, just wanted to let you know so you don't confuse the two systems.

The aftermarket alarm system probably still works but since you don't have remotes, you can't arm the system. I would just pull it out and toss it. If they installed a starter cut on the alarm, you may or may not have to join some wires back together.

It's what they call an "add on" alarm. It uses the factory remotes. Usually looks for a "lock" signal from the factory keyless module and then will arm the system.

On the site there is a user manual and everything. You may actually be able to keep this system working for you if you want.

The dealer replaced the control box, now the shock sensor functions.


I would rather have Arrowtrack gps.
