Acceleration issues after air filter replacement.
I put in a new OEM air filter and now my car is running like it's possessed. For example, on my way to work I was accelerating and it got around 6-7000 rpms, the car had this slight dip and return in power which made it slightly jump. In other words, not the normal silky smooth acceleration. On my way back home it drove normally for the most part but still did the "lurching" thing every now and then when I would accelerate. It made the CEL come on. I wasn't having issues when I was maintaining speed and cruising, only accelerating. Any ideas on what it could be? I tried to get video of it happening when I got closer to home but of course it wouldn't do it when I was recording.
I followed this video exactly when installing the filter.

If its a k&n filter, then that would be the problem.
Besides the fact that those filters suck major ***** at doing their one and only job, they also get oils all over your intake mass airflow sensor which causes it to not work properly.
Also, their HP gain claims are complete and udder garbage and lies.
You also could have broken one of the plastic elbows for the hoses that go into the intake causing a significant vacuum leak.

You sure you put everything back properly?
Double check your work and make sure everything is plugged back in, etc.

I just ordered a code reader. I always put off buying one but I just did. The only thing I can think of that messed something up was maybe unplugging those connections shown in the video and plugging them back in? Otherwise everything else went smoothly. Confident I put everything back right. It's just quite a coincidence it's acting up the first drive with a new air filter.

When you are standing at the nose of the car looking at the intake box, just above that is the intake accordian tube that goes into the throttle body. There are hoses entering the accordian on the lefthand side, and the plastic elbows act as the connection from the end of the hoses to the intake.
