S2 Bose -- somehow lost some bass response from the rear deck...

Oddly enough, this happened as I was musing about how the R3 trim would make so much more sense with rain sensing wipers and climate control instead of Advanced Keyless and Bose, and wondering if I could make that trade somehow...

Anyway, somehow the rear deck lost a bunch of bass response in mid-song on me. It was like someone had just turned on an EQ that chopped off everything below like 200 Hz, but only in the back. The front speakers are fine.

The volume was way up and AudioPilot was on, if that makes a difference.

Both rear speakers work, as in they don't sound hideously busted or anything. There's just a whole lot less oomph back there than I'm used to.

No audio mods AFAIK, unless the PO installed something completely stealth.

Any thoughts on what to poke? I'm not going to spend a hell of a lot of effort on this, and I'm definitely not spending any money. But if it's something I can track down, it might be interesting at least.

And if it turns out I'm hallucinating this whole thing, that'll be REALLY interesting...

The Bose amp has a lot of filtering built in to make the crappy speakers sound better. My guess is, one of those filter networks popped on you.

Thanks as always for weighing in, Steve. Kind of suspected something like that was the case.

Was also wondering if AudioPilot might have suddenly flipped algorithms for some reason. If that were the case, though, I'd have expected things to go back to normal after I turned AudioPilot off, which they didn't.

Oh, well...
