Will dl and report when I get home tonight.

paimon.soror Jul 23, 2012 03:51 PM

sounds good. I am working on an update that will hopefully fix the "UP" issues.

amdhunter Jul 23, 2012 04:20 PM

I had no problem with the update. I downloaded and ran it with no issues less than 10 minutes after your post. :)

paimon.soror Jul 23, 2012 04:37 PM

awesomeness. Just to make sure, did you get the MOTD the first time you fired up, and not again thereafter?

mikeinquincy Jul 23, 2012 05:46 PM

Played with 7-19 firmware extensively over the weekend - here's some feedback:
1. Initial flickering/conflict with the radio is much shorter, around 5-10 seconds after start-up. After that everything looks good.
2. + button works infrequently as noted by others.
3. Turning on cruise control did not turn off RxD, so when cruise is ON pressing +/- and cancel changed screens on the display AND controlled cruise.
4. Some weirdness with changing screens on it's own (happened very rarely).
5. RxD still overrides radio display when you press radio buttons even when its unplugged (the latest message stays on the screen).
6. A/C controls no longer beep when you press the buttons also could not switch between F and C on the display.

Thanks for the feedback:

1. Great, so the goal here is obviously to not have any flickering at all, but safe to say we are making progress.

2. This is very interesting because on my end my + button works fine. Nonetheless I have a new firmware that I am going to put out in a little that should hopefully help

3. This was disabled a while back just to help weed out display issues. I basically didn't want too many features working while we were figuring out the display stuff. I am re-enabling in the new firmware

4. I will look into this, I know exactly what is happening here

5. I am hoping this will be resolved with #1

6. Same as #1 and #5

Paimon has the bluetooth and media button issue been fixed?

paimon.soror Jul 23, 2012 08:38 PM

not yet but that is being worked right now. Will let you know asap.

paimon.soror Jul 23, 2012 08:40 PM

Actually, I do have a fantastic idea if someone has a laptop that they wouldn't mind taking down to the car for a few mins. Here is what I could use:

OEM Radio Owners
1. I have a firmware file hosted here: http://www.therxduino.com/nightly/RxDuinoDebugger.hex , please download and install to the RxDuino.
2. Please take your laptop and rxduino to your car (you want the rxduino still plugged into the laptop)
3. Turn the Key to the ON position
4. With the Radio On, please plug in the RxDuino. Click "Connect" if you have not already. You should see a bunch of information dumped to the screen.
5. Leave this running for a minute or so.
6. You can now click "Disconnect" on the RxDuino Console.
7. Copy all information on the console screen by pressing Cntrl+A (select all), then Cntrl+C (copy). Then open notepad, or an email, and paste what you just copied. (Note: If you are using console version 1.2.2 you can access the save console option in the file menu)
8. You can then email me the results to [my rx8 username]at.gmail.com

OEM Radio w/ Bluetooth
Please follow the steps above, but during step 4, please make sure that the Radio is ON and bluetooth is on.

I hope this makes sense. If not please let me know.

What is this going to do? Basically will let me compare the bytes passed along the canbus between oem non-bluetooth enabled to bluetooth enabled. Technically, someone with a bluetooth radio can do this by doing one debug log with bluetooth off, and one log with bluetooth on, but I didn't want to burden anyone with grabbing both logs.

Looks like I'm late to the party...

Paimon, first of all - great job!!:biggthump FWIW I think the rxduino works pretty well out of the box, with the as-shipped firmware. A few of the already reported bugs aside, it has been behaving pretty well with none of the I/O issues others seemed to have. And I have an 09 w/ stock radio.

Before I upgrade to the latest build... you have not disabled the code reading function right?

Yep. I didn't read it though...lol

Glad it is working for you!! The latest firmware has code reading disabled at the moment, the reason being that I wanted to limit the amount of commands that the duino sends to the ECU so that we could focus more on the display issues. I promise the feature will be re-enabled as I am also working on reading multiple codes since it looks like we were only reading the most recently stored MIL code with the shipped firmware (my car is only throwing a p0420 which is why I never caught that).

Doh! that had your super secret code in it that got you a free special edition AP that works with the S2 cars. Ohhh wellll. :evil_laug

Dont forget all, for those of you that have a free moment, please take a look at post #160. https://www.rx8club.com/series-ii-in...7/#post4313521

Hmmm... Downloaded Console 1.2 - uninstalled old, installed new. Windows 7 64-bit.

Tried update Firmware with post #160 above and RxDuino_7_23_2012_03_54_pm_int.hex. Crashes console on clicking Update (no firmware updated box pops up) :(

paimon.soror Jul 24, 2012 09:25 PM

You my friend are correct. Fixing now. Gives us the opportunity to check to see if the update message works as well.

paimon.soror Jul 24, 2012 09:42 PM

New version of the console is up. The console should alert you of the new version, but if it doesn't you can download it here:

RxDuino Console « The RxDuino

If you are currently on 1.2.0 you do not need to uninstall, just download and run the install and it will update the application :)

Installed and running perfectly. Got the MOTD once and that's it.

paimon.soror Jul 25, 2012 06:21 AM

Glad to hear it. Did you by chance get the "new update available" message prior to updating?

No. Didn't see anything.

paimon.soror Jul 26, 2012 07:01 AM

Note: Tomorrow (Friday) through Sunday I will be out of the state. Just wanted to give you guys a heads up and I dont respond. I have my cell on me so I will try my best to, but didn't want you guys to think I was ignoring.

I am also waiting for some of the logs to be sent from users with OEM Radio / Bluetooth. The instructions are in Post 160: https://www.rx8club.com/series-ii-in...7/#post4313521

amdhunter Jul 26, 2012 08:47 AM

paimon, I was wondering if the original shipping firmware was the most stable for those of us without the stock radio.

I never got to try it, do you still happen to have it lying around? Or has many changes been done since then that makes it totally obsolete?

paimon.soror Jul 26, 2012 09:06 AM

I do have it, just not hosted, I will upload it for you as soon as I get home if you want. That one was pretty stable for me... I think we have improved on a lot of things since then though. I am actually using a variation of the latest nightly to test out the firmware with everything enabled, I can go ahead and upload that one for you as well as I find that one to be the most stable for non-radio folks (the only issue at the moment is that it only displays the latest mil code thrown instead of all mil codes, only because i haven't had a chance to do something that gives me multiple MIL codes lol, I will probably disconnect my airpump to get another MIL so that I can properly test this).

Putting them both sounds great. Enjoy your time off also.

Still can't get console 1.2.2 to update firmware on my Windows 7 64-bit machine. :(

Console on my Laptop (Vista 32-bit) with Norton Internet Security 2012 - the latter quarantines the setup.exe (mostly because it's not in it's "trust" database, rather than riddled with Virii) - so I have to disable NAV or release from quarantine to run on that machine. (My Windows 7 box is about to receive NAV 2012 too!)

seanp Jul 28, 2012 06:53 AM

Tried this all from my 32-bit Vista Laptop; same result Console 1.2.2 fluffs out when doing Firmware update :(
