You can also change title yourself. Edit first post, change title ;)
Great progress, btw! |
Thanks for moving this ASH8
Btw updated the first post to make it a bit more presentable and add a table of contents for those who dont want to sift through all pages to see updates. |
|
sorry I've missed a few pages (I'll go back and read the "new" OP right away), but do you lose function of the cruise with the RxDuino?
|
Nope. I will make the logic check to see if cruise control is on or off. If on then I don't listen, if off then I listen :). Also, I do not manipulate the signals so there is no threat of messing with the actual cruise control module.
|
Man... teknologie iz kewllllll :D:
|
Sorry my last post was from my phone, but just to confirm, the rxduino will only be listening to the data across the cruise control module. There will be a listener on a timer that will just be listening to key presses from the cruise control module. If a button is pressed, I check if cruise control is on or off. If it is on, the rxduino will just go on its merry way and ignore that the button was pressed. If it notices that cruise control is off, then it will handle the keypress.
My intent is to have the following functionality: Up/Down, cycle through each modes options Cancel, switch to the next mode Double Press Cancel, switch to modes alternate Currently the device has the following modes: 1. ECU Monitor (Alternate: Monitor Update Rate)
2. Current Miles Per Gallon (Alternate: Avg Miles Per Gallon) 3. Individual Wheel Speed 4. Tire Pressure (Alternate: Tire Temperature) 5. Custom Text (Alternate: Edit Text) 6. Read MIL Code 7. Bluetooth Monitor [Enabled Only On 'DEBUG' enabled devices] 8. Clock Functions (Alternate: Set Clock Mode) 9. Device Off |
Your a clever Bastard!! :)

Good work paimon. :bigok: |
Thank you gentlemen, I appreciate the votes of confidence :).
I am going to work this weekend to integrate the cruise control buttons to the main application. |

Cruise control has been integrated into the main application |
Just an update folks, what I plan on doing is getting a box so that the device can sit in now that there wont be any physical interaction with the hardware. Once that is set and once I get the detection of if CC is on or off, we should be able to start lining up a few testers.

Paimon....I like your work..
I just thought I would throw this into the ring (representing RHD S2's, down under...all 250 of them). It is yet to be confirmed if it will work on AU spec or EU cars as PCM's are slightly different....I think it will be OK. There is however a difference in main LED unit, that is with or without 'Air Bag Cut System', Australia is the only one who does not have this feature (Passenger Air Bag Off Switch)...both AB's deploy here at same time. RHD UK, Europe and LHD North America use the exact same LED, Australia is on it's own.. Again, I don't believe it will be an issue (only you may know it could be?), but I am just making you aware of it. :) |
Thats interesting, I actually did not know that. Well, what we can do is once this is done if you don't mind, maybe I will send it to you to do testing for the AU guys. I haven't decided exactly how I am going to open up testing (deposits, shipping, etc), but once I figure that out I will send it your way for some feedback.
|
Just stopping by to say hi, and still more than willing to be a tester. Having the ability to cycle through some of these parameters would be awesome. Looking forward to the testing phase. Really appreciate the amount of work you've put in on this.

No problem mate...happy to work with/for you..
Ash Either way, once testing starts I guess we will find out, and it wouldn't be a big deal to change the lcd addresses for AU users. |

I was thinking, would a NA stereo work in an AU vehicle? I wouldn't think that the LCD's would have different addressing for the sake of cost reduction. Since the radio's post messages to the LCD that would be one way to find out.
Either way, once testing starts I guess we will find out, and it wouldn't be a big deal to change the lcd addresses for AU users. I also agree that I don't think the stereo addressing to LCD would be different between nations, IMO the difference would probably be Radio Tuner and the fact we don't have Sat Nav? in most S2's....Maybe..? None of the 6 different ones listed in EPC (including UK) are used in NA S2 RX-8's. Again more to do with Radio Tuners???..IMO... UK has AM:FM:LW:, with or without Sat Nav, 4,6 or 9 speaker..AU similar. |

got my schematics and pcb drafted up, now to send out to a fab shop |
Looking a bit further ahead, any idea what this bad boy is going to sell for?
It is already clear that you are going to wrap this up fairly soon. Also, think it would work on an 09 Mazda 6? I might want 2. |

The console is nearly complete PCB has been sent out, just waiting on a price quote and production. v3rlon; Not too sure yet on the price, but I promise to make it reasonable like the GOODBOX was. Mind you that the PCB displayed above is the first hardware revision and will probably be the demo boards that will be sent for testing. I am not sure if it will work with the M6, but this might be something that you could help test for me :) I am heading to my parents' this weekend, and my brother has a friend that just got a '10 Mazda3. I anticipate the device will work with some minor adjustments, but hopefully by the end of this coming weekend I can have an understanding of the portability of the device. |
