I hear ya (thanks for the link godesshunter). When i get this one well underway in production for the S2 guys, I will take a look to see exactly what goes on in the S1 and see if I can make something similar. Have you looked at the GOODBox though?

Yes, but I remember that it had issues with the display getting garbled and looking like a slot machine... not sure if those problems got completely fixed. Will have to inquire about that.

I do believe slot machine was fixed with a hardware revision.

Forgive me for missing some stuff since I entered this late, but I noticed that the S1 thread states tire pressure and temp. This, for me, is a significant selling point. Is this true, and is there an estimated cost yet?

Deminic, this is for an SII and yes, TPMS data will be available on the screen. Read the previous thread page. There is some estimated cost data right there for you.

paimon.soror,

Would you be willing to share the Mode, ID, data type, and formulas for things you've discovered on the BUS outside of the standard SAE spec?

I have a list of all the Mazda specific functions, but no cross reference back to the actual PIDs. I've been thinking about buying a Bluetooth Sniffer to do a portmon of sorts to determine what apps like Parmer Dashcommand are using to query the "hidden" Mazda PIDs.

I own the Mazda Extended version of the product but am dreading having to go through all the hassle of sniffing the wire and basically reverse engineering the conversation.

Thanks in advance,
Shell

Unfortunately the Ford extended PIDs are data in which I cannot unveil. This information is distributed through Mazda via a purchase of a temporary license and therefore not legal to distribute without said license.

Hmm, perhaps I should start with a Google search of the Ford extended set then... I'm aware of the licensing that goes into normal (non public domain) access to this crap... was hoping you'd already done the reverse engineering.

Thanks bhammer for answering his question. Also for what it is worth, GoddessHunter was given a short demonstration this past weekend. Today I am expecting the delivery of the enclosure.

It was very cool! Like looking at the "display data" on a snap-on scanner, but right there on the dash. I still think you should have some fancy label made to put on the outside of the box. Everybody like flashy swag.

Haha thanks brother, I appreciate the support

Maybe we can have some sort of "logo-off" ... everyone tries to create me a logo and they get one for free if they win. lol.

I wonder what will happen with Rx-Duino for those markets (mine) what does not have TPMS?
Will one have to click cycle through open/blank screens I guess....so If you can add them at the end of mode?

If anyone is bored and would like to help proof read the instructions, it would be much appreciated!

http://normalexception.net/index.php...ino-user-guide

I will be adding more pics of the actual device to the instructions so just take note that this isn't the completed document. Thanks!

I will have a firmware set for international users that do not have TPMS that would just not have that Mode

I certainly understand if you or your source are under contractual obligation to not share the mode 22 pids. I've got the PIDs inventoried ... now it's just a matter of decoding the individual results. Having an idea of how Mazda encodes kpa and temperature would be extremely helpful but I've done some heavy decoding of weather station data in the past so it should only be a matter of time till I have the data in a format that is usable.

Oltmann, you rock!

Another MODE that I don't think will work for RHD General Markets (Like Australia) is the
MPG Mode?..is that calculated from a 'Trip Computer' which Australia does not have in S2's?, unless you are using some other formula to calculate based on run time?...

Litres per 100 KMH?

.....

Looks OK to me mate..

I am actually calculating theoretical MPG through the MAF, speed, and AFR through an equation.

Btw I will set up the international firmware to use the metric system instead of English so you guys dont have to look at our silly miles and pounds

paimon.soror

Can firmware be modified or changed once it has been setup on a device? For example could the firmware of Cobb's Accessport be modified to work with JDM RX8's and Access Tuner Race software?

Sorry to ask this question on this tread, but you seem to be one of the more clued up people on this sort of subject.

Any info would be much appreciated.

Rotaman

as far as firmware on my device, no it cannot be modified by the user as it is first converted to hex and then garbled up a bit so no one steals my code .

Unfortunately I am not well versed in the COBB to know the answer to your actual question.
