Getting very close to opening up the group buy with the forums, but just to keep you guys updated and to keep your attention, here is what will be coming with each purchase:

Packaged:
The RxDuino circuit w/ Base Firmware
An OBD2-DB9 cable (connecting RxDuino to Vehicle)
A USB-FTDI cable (connecting RxDuino to PC)

Purchase Requirements:
Signed Waiver of Liability
Deposit

Waiver...
The reason that there will be a waiver is because this is a tool made for a motor vehicle. I will go into further detail when the waiver is released, but what you will be waiving is any damages, loss of life, or property if you are using this while driving. What this represents is the same assumed waiver that comes with navigation systems and other vehicle items. This will ensure that you wont sue me because you drove off a cliff while flipping through the cool features of the RxDuino.

Deposit...
This project is an individual/personal project. I do not have the funds or the budget to have a surplus of supplies, and have been developing this product with my own money and under good faith. If you are considering a purchase, I will be asking for a deposit of 25% the total cost of the product (which will be more clear soon). This deposit will be non-refundable as it will help pay for the ordering of the parts required to build your board.

Please note that the above is subject to change as more details are released.

What do you expect the turn-around to be from deposit to build to delivery?

That is a very good question. Chances are the following will need to happen:

1. group buy will start
2. deposits will be taken from at least 10 people
3. if 10 purcahses are not made, all money is refunded
4. if 10 purchases are made, an order will be placed at the fab shop
-- fab shop has a 10 day turn around --
5. once i get the boards, i will await the rest of the payment from buyers
6. once buyer sends payment, items will be shipped out.

That is the goal, so we are talking about 15ish days between 10th person's deposit to delivery. Hope that makes sense.

In the event that 10 purcahses are not made, all money will be refunded and we will discuss ordering boards that I will build by hand.

But what if it costs $1000?

If I win the Lotto tonight, I will make sure everyone who posted in this thread gets one.

LOL ... although Group Buy policies prevent me from telling too much about sale information, I can tell you that it is going to be less than $300 if that helps.

You can add me to the list as well.

Also the gf has a 2007 Mazda3 I can test this on as well. And I have pretty good access to a 2011 Mazda3 too.
Shoot I may show off this product to the Mazda dealer I frequent as well.

Nah, I wouldn't show the dealer crap. They'll probably find a way to void your warranty for "mucking" about with the electronics.

paimon.soror, is it OK to assume that this will control the LCD panel if I switch out my car stereo? I've been dying to get something new for my R3. I kinda want to copycat your setup.

lol, You wouldn't be interested in doing it for me would ya?

good deal. I am just tidying up the loose ends in the code and going through some solid tests. Been using the RxDuino in the car for days and it is working like a charm. I have an autox event next sunday and goddesshunter will be there.... as long as he doesn't mind I will have him be the guinea pig for testing. Assuming all goes well the groupbuy will begin :D.

Welcome aboard . The RxDuino will go through a solid testing next weekend at an autocross event. I expect the results to be fantastic, and the group buy will be organized!

Here are the pics of the enclosure, it has been submitted and is currently being fabbed up:

Very nice.

Pity that this won't work for Series-I if I understand correctly... you could have a way bigger market if it would.

I don't want another ScanGauge (even if this would have a few additional features the ScanGauge doesn't provide); I have one already. But it would be cool to use the stock display which the intended S1 version doesn't do.
