Recaro seat back loose.

So After the autox this past weekend, I noticed that the seat-back on my driver side seat is loose. And getting worse. I can grab the top and pull it forward and backward about an inch.

Its not noticeable during normal everyday driving, Only during very hard braking. Like coming off a long straight into a sharp corner. And at the end of the course when I come to a swift halt.

I'm not an unusually heavy person. 6'2" 180 lbs. The car only has about 14k miles on it. Granted I've gone to about 12 autox events. Ive only noticed it at the last 2 events.

Will others with the Recaros be willing to check theirs for seat back looseness and report back please?

Thinking about bringing it to the dealer. I still have just under 2 years on my bumper-to-bumper warranty.

Take it in now and make the bastards fix or replace it!!!!

I have an Aura Blue 09 R3 and I bought mine as a CPO a few weeks ago. I took it in to the dealer as my bolster is busted and they would not warranty it. Said my CPO does not cover the seats/interior and only drivetrain. Also, my 3 year warranty was up in April, before I even owned the vehicle.

I am 6ft 2" and 184 lbs as well...

I forked over casg and bought an used recaro here to fix it. :(

I will check mine too, but if I were you I would try and get a free new seat now.

ive been to 5 autox's and a 2 day hpde and hyper-drive and my seat top is as stiff as anything, if i lock my belt and move my seat forward to act as a harness it does not budge for me

Got the "seat frame" replaced under warranty for free.

Mine does it btw. I am out of warranty and my CPO warranty will not fix it. They want $1000 for the frame alone. F that!

You should be able to swap the seat cushions to a non-power seat frame(or even a power frame).

The difference between the Recaro seat base and the regular cloth seat base is the cloth seat has two adjustments on the side. The angle of the back and a slight height one in the front whereas the Recaro only adjusts the angle of the back right? Or am I wrong?

If you have movement in the seat back, it usually means theres some play in the ratchet mechanism/gears.

So find a non-power seat frame (or power if you want) and swap over your Recaro stuff. Then sell me your beat up one since you beat me to the other one! LOL!

No personal experience in this area but I HAVE seen some here at RX8club that claimed to have switched their recaros over to the power seat frames.

Sorry I can't remember the thread but if you search you should be able to find it and ask them what's involved. Good luck.

Oh - I keep hunting. Look for part-outs, ebay and such. I would like a full S2 cloth interior and put the recaro in bags to preserve it. I am weird like that...LOL

I want to take the seat apart and see what exactly is broke and causing issue and see if I can fix or find a replacement piece instead of the whole frame? Seems excessive...

Ok here's some pics to help you out. You can see you'll be able to swap your seat cloths over if you can find a "base". The R3 Recaros are missing the front height adjuster.

I saw what you did there, I collect sneakers and it is not weird in the community to (although I don't bag mine) bag the nicer pair and use a spare as beaters. Hence the term:
"Buy two pairs, one to ROCK and the other to RACK!"

In that case, let me give you the parts illustration for the leather seats.
