need help picking out a double din stereo
 

Hey guys
I want to pick out a double din stereo because I'm looking to get subs/speakers farther down the line. I have no knowledge about audio, and i want to pick out a good stereo, so i was hoping you guys could help me pick one out and teach me a little about audio on the way.
Budget- ideally under $500 if possible, but im willing to go to $800 if i have to
features
built in navigation
rear view camera input
dvd receiver
iphone compatibility
fits in double din

I also had a couple other questions.
1. I have an obd2 adapter and was wondering if there was anyway for it to be compatible with a double din stereo
2. On the 04-08 rx8s, if i remove the head unit to install an aftermarket stereo, the a/c will be disconnected, is it the same on the 09-11 rx8s?

From Car Audio Giants for only 295 shipped... Its a cool radio does good stuff doesnt cost that much.. No I just got this for my Subaru but Im thinking about getting it for my rx8 too.. just got this a week ago.lol.

Go to Cructhfield.com and look at all the options, pick the ones you like best based on what they have and price, then go to a local store and check them out and see which interface you like best. For the price, most systems will be similar in specs so it is really just what you prefer. Alot of people I see use the Pioneer decks as they are pretty nice so there will be alot of writeups on installing them more than most others.

Not really a suggestion but I have an avoidance for you. Don't get the Pioneer AppRadio. A buddy of mine got one and it had nothing but problems. The screen would get frozen in place all the time. and the touch screen wouldn't work until the head unit got warm.
There was also some fail safe wiring thing about locking out some of the apps unless the parking brake was on. Its was clever though we tried to cheat the wiring but it knew.

I forget what it was exactly but some sort of combination of things had to be done before it would unlock the apps. We ended up wiring it to his headlights he had to flip them on the off then on and remain on for the radio to work or something like that...

Finding the features on something isn't really the problem, one of the things I'm struggling with is some of the technical specifications. Sorry if i wasnt clear enough.
For example (found some specs that i didn't understand)

built-in amplifier (22 watts RMS/50 peak x 4 channels)
24-bit digital-to-analog converter
high- and low-pass filters
7-band parametric EQ
outputs: 6-channel preamp outputs (2.5-volt front, rear, subwoofer), A/V output

That sounds like you are describing a competition head unit. Basically a lot of previsions for running external amplifiers.

Crutchfield was a good suggestion from above. Their customer service is top notch. You don't have to know anything about radios. You can call their 800 number and talk to someone. They are very friendly. Tell them everything you want and they can make suggestions to you over the phone. If there's a problem you can call them up and they will help you right on the spot. Much better than buying from a store where you are on your own.

Not sue but I'm pretty sure they also refer you to a place to have it installed too.
