Metra trim piece question

For those who have installed a double-DIN head unit with a Metra kit, there's a little trim piece that snaps in around the head unit to close up the aperture to the screen. I hope I'm doing something wrong, and before I button everything back up, I'm hoping someone can tell me what it is. The trim piece is pretty thin (kinda has to be to fit in that gap), and held in place with four tabs (or something like that). Pushed in until it clicks, it just kinda flops around in there. My head unit has a screen that can fold out for different angles, to gain access to the disc slot, memory card slot, etc. as well as to remove it for security purposes. Doing so, causes the trim piece to just pop out. Surely that's not how it's supposed to go, so what am I doing wrong here? Anyone else have a double-DIN in a Metra kit having these problems? Resolved them? Am I the only one?

I called Metra this morning, and they said it's definitely not normal. We toubleshat at it a bit. My head unit has a detachable face, which apparently isn't all that typical these days(? seems dubious given that it's one of the few options with wireless CarPlay/Android Auto, and that's the latest-greatest thing going right now, but I also know that I have no clue what the landscape looks like). I'm going to pull the head unit out a little further to see if the trim peice stays in a little better this evening. He's sent me a replacement for that piece in the event it's defective somehow. If that doesn't work, I'm going to have to get more creative... It seems like a few dabs of super glue would probably be about all I really have to work with, unless anyone has any better ideas.

They sent me a new trim piece, and it appears mine got hot or squished or something. I don't know how secure the new one would have been though. I epoxied the original one in, and it's been rock solid. I haven't tested the motorized face, but I can't imagine a) it'll be that big of an issue even if it does hit, or b) that I'll be using the motorized face for anything often, if at all.
