Center console-stereo area rattle

So, my 09 R3 while very nice inside has an annoying rattle, creaking noises that seems to be coming from the center console area. Unless I turn the tunes up, I hear it a lot and its bothering me.

Anyone else have this issue?

Is there a DIY to take it apart and address the parts that rub each other or make harsh contact or anyone done this and can tell me how to take apart the center console and stereo dash?

On my G35 sedan, I had teh same issues and there were TSB's whereby the techs installed some sort of felt to quieten the vibration and squeaks. I may do the same thing.

Thanks!

yes there is a DIY.

try searching for threads that require you to take out the radio.

pull the plastic off around the shifter, a few screws and boom.

My non R3 '09 has the same issue - it's really obnoxious. Have you tried a fix, blacksheep? Any success?

Sadly - no, have not tried. I found a few threads on how to remove the center console, but sounds like sterio face is a PITA with some hidden nut or something... :(

The nut is accessible from the drivers side. Look in with a flashlight, it's easy to get to. Just go to Home Depot to get an extension.

I took out my radio on my first try in 20 minutes without scratching a thing. Now I could take out the factory deck in 5 minutes.

My Pioneer crAppRadio? 2 minutes or less. :)

Prior to taking the radio out, I've never had any experience at all working with interiors.

amd - I have a ton of tools, so not worried about extensions. I need to really search and find out exactly how it all comes apart. Did you do a DIY anywhere?

I also need to research that felt tape. I wonder if I can just buy it from the Infiniti dealer since this creaking and noises is common on the G cars..Hmm.

EDIT - Found it in a quick search...

Sounds like this felt cloth tape can be used on PC's even for chassis vivration etc. I am going to have to get this and try it!

Let me know how this works out. I've also got the same issue. I just beat on the center console once or twice :P

I have the same noise, but it stops if i open the ashtray and push on the cigarette lighter power connector...

Sugarfree135 01-22-2013 11:20 PM

I just deal with it, kind of like in the winter when you go over that bump just right and hear the back window go "pop" then your heart drops because you know that it's going to make noise the rest of the way home lmao

i have this same issue. mine isnt with the radio though, its the glove box latch. the left lip sags just a tad and knocks every now and then. it latches tight, but for some reason that lip sags. i tried torquing on the lid to try and re-form it but no luck.
