Series II LED Tail Lights on a Series I

Can you put the 2010 tail lights on the 2005 model??

Bullitt 10-23-2011 02:52 PM

Don't know yet, but there's some doubt as to whether the 2095 model will even have tail lights. Or wheels, for that matter.

RX8Soldier 10-23-2011 04:56 PM

I think so. I'll post updates...

To answer your question, A basic/simple swap...NO.

Can it be done?,yes, there are a few Series 1 owners who have done the change-over, however modifications to the Rear Bumper Cover needs to be done, and even after this there are gaps or Tail Light protrusion...in other words it is not a clean or flush fit.

New S2 Tail Lamps are not cheap.

Search for LED Tail Lamps, located in Series 1 Forums, with pics of Yellow RX-8 with 09 LED Tail Lamps.

BTW: I edited your MY date from 2095 to 2005.

This is a series 1 with a series 2 rear

ha check out their other video. They just installed a prototype turbo.
As far as I know, they are actually respected members of these boards.

Bullitt 10-23-2011 10:37 PM

Aw, Ash, it's not funny that way.

ASH8 10-24-2011 03:46 AM

It looks like the bumper cover needs to be replaced along with the tail lights in order to make it fit flush.

My question is: are the electrical connections the same as on the S1 tail lights?

Hutch27 05-07-2012 12:03 AM

clean!!

Grace_Excel 05-07-2012 01:11 AM

With a good welding skills to modify the frame mounts, you can pull it off and keep the S1 bumper.

Which approach yields the cleaner fit and finish, modifying the frame mounts or swapping the bumper?

550rwhrex 07-14-2012 09:12 AM

The series 2 bumper..
