Such a disappointment that this kit only comes in fiberglass....

Have ordered a Set of Rear Skirts for Speedy36 & Myself from Japanparts & should be in the UK by the first week of August :)

No need to be disappointed the kit is in FRP.
Unlike many aftermarket body kits, the M'Z Custom kit (which was available as a dealer-fit option in Japan, I am informed) fits just perfectly. No sanding, no drilling, no cutting, no grinding. It just fits. Oh, and as one of the very early posters mentioned something about the easily-broken and discolouring black fins. They neither break (and I've had this out on a number of track days, including Spa Francorchamps) nor discolour. You will also find that the high-speed ride (say about 80mph upwards) is much more stable than the stock R3, so the aerodynamics work rather well too. What's not to like? Attachment 188252 |
^^ Only thing to not like is the price and shipping to the states....
|
Well, there is that ...
It cost about $1,600 shipping to the UK, plus cost of purchase from Japanparts.com, plus import tax and then getting a good spray job done on it. But you wouldn't regret it, in my experience, anyway! |

Ron,
That's looking just beauuuutiful! Lovely paint job with the two blues. (And I think I've replied to your PM (I find it hard to tell if it's sent successfully or not), but if not let me know) |
hey I'm looking at buying one of these kits for my car and can't quite get the answers to my questions from japan parts. i think it must be a language barrier thing.
so what i would like to know from guys that have bought them is * do they come with all the trimmings as pictured.. black side vents where oil coolers are and lower black lip ? *when ordering there are two options ( sprint GT and type G ) what are the differences ? i was thinking that it was like the GT (r3 for USA) option or luxury but the GT and Luxury bumpers are interchangeable so why would there be a different kit. also any feed back would be great thanks |
The M'Z Custom nose comes with the black splitters and the main grille mesh, but no mesh for the oil filter cut-outs. If you want mesh for these you have to supply and attach your own.

A picture from a recent service, where 2 out of 3 known owners of the M'Z Custom kit from Ireland and the UK met up at one of the main rotary support garages in the UK, Rotary Revs.
There were some apparently uninformed references made in an earlier thread to this bumper discolouring. I have had mine on for over 4 years now and guess what, still absolutely no discolouration whatsoever. Maybe in 20 years, eh? What I can report as fact is that the M'Z Custom bumper provides increased downforce and makes the car significantly more stable at Autobahn and track speeds ... 100mph+. https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rx8...e855ff552a.jpg RX8 R3 with M'Z Custom bumper and skirts |
And here's the alternative view

that looks awesome, Rod! thanks for the pics. I re-arranged pics in my album so that's why my links above are broken. So far so good on my bumper as well. It's been about 2 years at this point and although she isn't my daily driver she's been holding up great. Like Rod mentioned, take into account the costs (bumper, shipping, taxes, painting, etc). Even with all that I have no regrets, definitely an awesome bumper. I'm also unaware as to the discoloration in a previous post.. I would think that depends on the quality of the paint job.
I'm not sure what the difference is between the sprint gt and type g. If you provide them your VIN # they'll be sure to send you the correct item. |
In my opinion this is the best looking front bumper you can buy for a series 2. However, is there any way to keep the fog lights on the R3 and still have it work? Seems like an annoying sacrifice to have to make for the improved looks

That will look very cool indeed IMHO :worship:
Really look forward to seeing the results!! |
Thanks for the reply, I am hoping you can successfully modify the bumper. I feel as though the fog lights do come in handy at night on dark mountain roads up in New Hampshire and I also feel as though the car looks better with them on. A nice touch of modern :boink:

Is there anyone currently interested in getting this bumper or knows someone who has them for sale?? Shipping is a b*tch
