Mazdaspeed Wing on 2009 Rx-8
Well guys i have a 09 rx8 GT, my question is that if it could be possible to put a mazdaspeed wing on my car, if somebody did it already please post picture or give me information, thanks (this is my first thread)
I'm pretty sure it works just fine. I seem to recall it's listed as compatible with the 2009 in the MazdaSpeed RX-8 catalog/brochure I got from the dealer last year. Have you checked the MazdaSpeed parts and accessories site?
entirely possible and done. the only problem could be color matching; for instance, finish line doesn't list the wing available in aurora blue, sparkling black, or that *diamond* color. they come it primered so you can just have it painted
I checked a website called mazdaspeedstore.com but they didn't have any spoiler for the rx8, can you send me a link to the website you was talking about, i have the velocity red but i don't know if i am going to painted red or painted black, because i painted my wheel gloss black and i am going to change my hood to a carbon fiber one, thanks

painting is the reason that i just went with carbon. Here's some pics for you though:

that looks sexy i was wondering how carbon fiber ms wing would look on blue. very nice.
Dang, that looks good. What did you do with your factory wing mystical?
it's still attached to my factory trunk in my little climate controlled storage room at my house lol. hood, stock springs and struts, intake, everything i've replaced except the sway bars are all sitting together in case i ever go back to stock for some reason.
I actually have had the thought of getting rid of it a couple of times to fund building my Cobra and going stupid with it because I'd end up with money left over, but the more i really really think about it the more I'd love to do something completely insane in the 8 like a V8 swap. just to make people around where i live get the "WTF IS THAT THING?!" and keep the cobra as a nice weekend cruiser that's already quick |
wow, the MS wing looks amazing on newer 8's!

It's always nice to know other people can enjoy what I do as well. If people don't, oh well...it's my car anyways lmao hopefully here soon I will have some VERY big plans unfolding...or atleast i will if things go my way  |
where can i get a hold of a cf one?
Carbon Creations sells the CF mazdaspeed wing. So any place that carries the Carbon Creations brand should have that wing for ya
how was the fitment on the carbon creations one?
fitment wasn't bad. Just had to take my time and work with slowly to make sure everything went together properly and perfectly. for the lip spoiler section of it, I used 3M double-sided adhesive to hold it in place firmly. and then the aluminum pedestals for the actualy wing part are bolted down.

you'll get a laugh out of the website probably, but it's one of the cheapest I found and I knew Carbon Creations was a good company to begin with. So I gave it a shot:

i didn't have any problems further than what other guys normally have with aftermarket decklids (i.e. having to take off the rubber gasket for the trunk). The hardest part was getting the 3rd brake light to fit perfectly. It mostly just took a bit of fanagling but came out just fine. I also took the time to drill holes in the fiberglass bracing on the underside of the carbon fiber (being careful not to get into the CF itself) so that i could mount the factory carpet panel so that it made a nice clean installation with none of the wiring harness showing other than what shows on the stock deck lid.
I need a side show down and at an angle. It is hard to tell if I like it.
just a quick question would it have matched up this the existing holes from the factory one??
Does anyone have the layout for the holes for the mspeed wing?
I'd also like to know where we can get these, I'm not so interested in the CF one as I am the EB one.
that looks so good!
Anyone know where i can get this in Socal (San Gabriel Valley) and get it installed?
Has anyone found it any cheaper than $200? Thats the best price I've found online which is this:

How was the fitment? Ive never seen anyone with a 40AE with mazdaspeed parts so finding a used painted set is not going to happen, i was thinking if the fitment is pretty good then i could always get the cf and either add a cf trunk or paint over the cf. Where did you get your cf trunk? Does your spoiler mount up to the factory spoiler holes? I have a S1, so my holes MAY be different than yours. |

I didnt have a problem with the fitment on my spoiler, and it's been so long now that I don't really remember where I bought it from with. As far as lining up with stock spoiler holes, I don't know. I never took my factory spoiler off. I bought the cf trunk lid and spoiler at the same time and put them on together at the same time.
to give you an idea of the color... http://www.japanesesportcars.com/pho...+cosmo+_3_.jpg http://www.drivingsports.com/site/wp...8-40th%203.jpg |
it probably wouldn't really look out of place. Hell, from a distance most people would probably think it's just light playing with their eyes to tell whether or not is body color. IIRC there have been galaxy grey members on here (series I owners) that have used a carbon fiber spoiler/wing on their stock trunk lid.
Paint the lower lip the same color as your car and leave the wing CF.
Another cool option would be to add a touch of the body color to the clear and then spray the CF wing. As you walk towards the car you will start to see the CF pop through.

do you need to do anything else other than drilling holes to your cf trunk for the ms spoiler
i guess nobody knows how to install the ms wing on the trunk
Just installed mine.. Make sure you measure. Re measure and punch pilot holes. Then slowly increase drill bits it was ridiculously easy... And carbon Fiber looks great on SBM.
After the bolts line the underside with 3M double sided tape I'm making a DIY as we speak lol. |
