I can answer my own question. They are not the same...connectors are different. Can maybe repin and it'll work? I don't know.

Yes, the Sensors in S1 and S2's are definitely different, and naturally OEM Part Numbers.

From what I can concur with the main differences are in the wiring aspect/design,
the S2 has a later designed Wiring Connect PLUGs which is not interchangeable with their main Wiring Loom connects between Series of RX-8.

Remember there are also differences between Auto Transmissions and between the 5 speed and the 6 speed Manual Transmissions too.

In the USA for the S1 RX-8 the Exhaust Manifolds (sorry Header) Air Fuel Ratio Sensor appears to be still sold as a genuine OEM unit.
Whereas the S1 OEM O2 Sensor used in the CAT is a recon unit (9U).

For S2 (Manual Trans) all the parts are different by Part Number and are all OEM no recons and are still all genuine. (and more expensive too)

Just to add to the confusion the 02 CAT Sensor in S2 Automatic uses the exact same S1 Sensor N3H2-18-861C-9U recon.

Repining, ??
Well I honestly can not say, as I cant recall reading about anyone's experience in forums.

Can S1 front sway bar end links fit an S2 and vice versa? For a 2007 model the part number is F15134150 and for a 2010 it's F18934150. So the part numbers are definitely different. But will they fit?

Yes, although they do not technically supersede the F189 is the better link, F151 were known to break at ball joint housing (they can all break, but the F189 is/was said to be better made).

Awesome! So no fitment issues? One more question, do the front end links change for the sport and standard suspension? Or do they both use the same?

As you can see here, the part numbers for sway bars and bushings differ between sport and normal versions, but there is only 1 part number for each end link.

Thanks bud! So they work with both suspensions . Awesome! I'll get the newer S2 end links for my friend, since they fit S1s as well.

By the way, that's the exact website I'm going to order these parts from

Quick question, are the S2 oil cooler air inlet ducts made out of flexible rubber like the S1 oil cooler ducts?

Anyone know where I can buy the "LENS" that goes over the Speedometer Gauge? Just the Lens / Clear plastic piece, mine has a scratch in it from the previous owner and it's pretty big.

Ash, can you tell me PNs for the driver's side (US Left) A-pillar cover (cream colored plastic only - previous owner smoked) as well as the clips in the trunk liner hardware, both the push-style center and threaded?

Sunroof

I have a 2007 Rx8 GT model. Does anyone know the part number for this plastic device that goes up (when opening sunroof) and down (when closing). It's located in the front of the sunroof opening.

I've got a dumb one for you, Ash. I've got no mounting strap in the trunk for the inflator kit and can't find any reference to that hardware in the online catalogs. Can you tell me anything about the strap, trunk fasteners and the clips at each end?

OK. How about this one for a challenge. I've looked everywhere and can't find the part number for those clip/washer/spacer things that fit between the rear caliper and its bracket. Here's a pic of it.

Ash, hoping you might help me find something.

I'm looking for the 3 lines that come off the intake hose. (what's attached to #11)
I don't need the plastic connectors since they're going on an AEM intake
