Grille Options?

I love my R3 bumper and was wondering if anyone has ever seen a mesh type grille option for the middle portion? I'm not entirely fond of the giant plastic honeycomb that goes across. It only has two small areas open for airflow.

Where are you trying to get airflow to? If the car is stock, there is nothing to gain by adding a tacky mesh grill.

geswek 10-06-2013 11:53 AM

Not really performance, just looks.

Was a thought I had.

I was on road when I replied; I just wondered if there was any benefit to more airflow in that area because as I was looking at front of my R3 I noticed that there are two small areas of that grill that are actually open; rest is just plastic on front.

This is something I'm going to attempt to do this winter, with some nice 3/8" stainless steel weaved mesh.

Let me know how it turns out -- the only concern I have is how our plastic grill comes to a point.

Directly behind the solid part is the crash bar.

Nothing to be gained by replacing it with mesh apart from looking like a ricer

At 50 years of age (ricer) is furthest from the look I want. I love the front bumper
just not a fan of the grille and yes the crash bar is a concern

I'll post some pics of my attempts get to some opinions.

Thanks for the info -- if that's the case than I'm OK. I was was worried about cooling too because this is a track car for next year and just wanted to maximize any cooling potentials.

Slidin8 10-06-2013 10:56 PM

It wont do anything to help with cooling

geswek 10-06-2013 11:15 PM

Thanks Slidin8.

EMeyers' team runs their S2 with a mesh front grill.

Not sure I would do the same on a DD though.

G_ man 10-07-2013 01:43 PM

OMG no that looks terrible,I go back to stock if I couldn't do a better job than that.
His under tray needs a little help also.

paimon.soror 10-07-2013 01:51 PM

I believe that was by design.

If pockets are deep, there's always the Re amemiya Grill...

G_ man 10-07-2013 02:01 PM

Pockets are always deep because there's not enough $$$$ to fill them
