Another S2 With Racing Beat Oil Grills
Pretty easy installation, honestly I didn't even remove the front bumper. What i did was remove all of the screws and push screws from the fender and bottom of the bumper. I then loosened some of the bolts at the top of the bumper so i would have some give. This gave me enough leverage to lift up the bumper a little bit without stressing any points. From here i was able to slide my hand from the side, unscrew the plastic screw from the oil cooler, and slide in the grill.

Eff it! If a rock punctures my oil coolers then I'll just have to suffer the consequences!
BTW, why is there a plate under the oil pan? Did Mazda cheap out and use a flimsy pan? |
Hahaha, well assuming that some sort of oil/lubrication thing is the cause of most all Rotary engine failures, im sure they tried their best to protect those critical parts. This way if something happens, they can at least say "hey we are doing our best" ... who knows lol

As long as you have that can of hi temp flat paint paimon you might as well hit the muffler with a couple coats. i do it on all my cars first thing. The 8 muffler hangs down sideways and is unsightly, this hides it in 2 minutes. Hit the 12" between the muffler and tips as well. Gives some salt protection too.

That is a pretty sweet idea! I eventually plan on replacing with a nice set of RB exhaust, but spraying may be just what i need to hold me over. Thanks for the tip buddy.

That looks nice! In a mean way.

Frankly speaking all these grills should have come with the car stock, its retarded for Mazda to not expect rocks come flying towards the cooler when its positioned right behind the tires of the car in front.
|
Yup, and trust me, road junk does hit those things. Because I painted them black i can see so many little paint chips on the grill from debris.

The Racing Beat Oil Protective Screens are the first thing you should buy for your car.

Order my this week, just waiting for them to come in. Thanks for the info.

Ordered a set as well, thanks for the write-up letting me know this can be done without removing the bumper entirely.

I did an install on mine a while ago and posted the after pictures on page 3. That thread was very informative and helpful. Big thanks to who Wrote it. (The instruction that come with them are really good too)
