DIY: Third Brake Light in LED
5 Attachment(s)
Just received my led 3rd brake light today and was faced with a wee bit of an issue with the right hand quadrant of LEDs not lighting up. This is a very simple fix but I figured I would show some pics just incase.
The fix is probably one of the easiest fixes ever. Just open up the assembly (there are 2 screws on the black piece that are holding the cover to the LED board), and take your trusty soldering iron and give each joint a retapping. To test out the assembly, you can simply hook up the wires to the black and yellow (+5v) pins on a standard molex connector from a computer PSU. If all goes well, you should be back in business. |
Hey, where did you get that LED third brake light from?
|
check ebay, amazon they are everywhere, and just if anyone is doing it upgrading to all LEDS in the rear like I have just so you know you will load resistors for the blinkers and the 3rd brake light for a total of 3 load resistors, or otherwise when your lights are on it will throw a ABS light and make weird sounds where the abs unit is( behind the center of the dash where radio is, not cool.) just a heads up I'm still waiting on my load resistor for 3rd brake light got it from superbrightleds.com

How many Ohm resistors are you using?
|
i didn't change any of the resistors, but I assume that they are around 330ohm
