Lots of places sell CF. Do some google searches to find locations near you. You should be able to find some decent how-to vids online as well.

You guys should check this out. It's a freeware diy 3d printer. It's pretty small, but can be modded to be bigger. www.Makerbot.com

Excellent work. I have a black one, just need to figure out what I want to do with it. Who cares where the photos came from, just glad you showed them.

Know where I can find more info on this wheel? I find the OEM one uncomfy.

tofu_box 09-01-2010 07:19 AM

that is the OEM wheel, with carbon wrap and custom made rubber grips.

Love the blacked out lights - just wanted to offer a tidbit of advice. My buddy blacked out his lights (RSX) but used MATTE black paint; big mistake. Gloss (as demonstrated in the 8 photos here) is the way to go, since a glossy surface has low emissivity and a matte surface has high emissivity. I.e. you'll cook your headlights from lightbulb heat and destroy the clear plastic lense quickly with matte black paint (even though it looks badass to have matte finish). Again, beautiful blacked out 8.

Are the lenses painted or the reflectors painted in the earlier posts? Looks like the reflectors to me. Will the lenses still be affected?

I assume that the lens refers to the clear plastic 'shield' of the headlight, and the reflectors are what used to be chrome, which is now gloss black. I assume the lenses will still become overheated and messed up because the matte black paint would cause an unnecessary amount of heat to be retained.

As I'm saying this I'm realizing that the 1st gen rx8's have matte black housing, however the reflector portion is chrome. Anyway, sorry didnt mean to steal the thread - excellent clean mods here.

For some pieces that you'd like to make LOOK carbon fiber... check this out!

carbonfiberfilm.com

One of the Ravens players used this on his M5 roof - check out some of links on the right side too. Granted, why anyone would want to completely wrap their Ferrari F-40 in this stuff is beyond me. But I don't see any reason why you couldn't use it to cover things like your external mirror plastics or the side blinker grills etc. I might get a sheet and try a little sumthin.

How do these come out? Are they just snapped into place?

SlickRick51586 12-09-2010 11:00 AM

I want to see somone cut out the blocked off portions of the series 2 grill, and see how it would look with some type of mesh behind that to block large rocks.
(this has prob been done, just have not seen it myself)

In addition to aesthetics of doing this,I would be curious about temp benefit/or detriment.

Doing the above, plus a painted top portion like in these previous posts would be hot. (while still looking somewhat stock as opposed to cutting out the cross hatch plastic grill entirely)

xexok 11-28-2011 06:33 PM

Rick I think the blocked off portions of the stock grill are to give it rigidity and strength, might not be the best plan to go cutting them all out. That is what I have heard anyway.

Prophet 11-30-2011 12:23 AM

Any one have a ballpark idea what having this would cost?

mistahjg 02-21-2012 05:41 AM
