Sohn Adaptor For Series II
Hi All,
I don't know if this is old news or not. I didn't find anything when I searched. I traded emails with Laura at Real World Solutions today and she confirmed "the engineer is designing a new version specific to the Series II." I guess they will be updating the website soon to reflect this.

Well, I'm not sure there is a need, but since segregating the oil supply seems to be of some benefit, I'd buy it. I'm sure there are people on here that know far more about it than I do. I was interested so I asked them.

Yeah, I don't have the first clue. I just thought it was interesting, but I know there is a big gap between "we're working on it" and "here's our marketable product." :-)

Apart from issuing a fresh supply of clean 2 stroke oil, which the Sohn Adapter does extremely well for Series 1 along with it's OE mechanical/electric MOP bolted onto front engine Timing Cover, I just don't see how this would be possible without major alterations, as the S2 system is totally different.
I am not saying it is not possible, but the rework required for little gain is very questionable, and I am not certain these guys have full knowledge of the operation of the two EMOP's used in Series 2's.
First S2's does not use the same Timing Cover as S1, all the mounting position and holes are just not there like the S1 Timing Cover.
Next and remember the Oil Pump is also a totally different beast never used on a rotary engine before also supplies the oil to the electric/mechanical OCV (Oil Control Valve) which then directs oil supply and or bypasses oil to the two EMOP's plus OCV also puts them (EMOP's) into a cleaning or flushing mode/cycle.
The oil under pressure is supplied into the two EMOP chambers, where the only Engine Oil Pressure Warning Switch is mounted/monitored on EMOP # 1.
A separate new EMOP Driver Module (bolted next to Air Pump) regulates current supply/driver to the two EMOP's...when triggered the large main Solenoid Piston on each of the EMOP's moves rapidly to inject engine oil through each of the 4 and 2 (total of 6) oil supply Tubes to the Oil Nozzles.
All this is then monitored and controlled by ECU (PCM) which has 4 separate monitoring codes for any malfunction of this system.
So, the task is to overcome all this ECU control and monitoring with an aftermarket unit.?
To get to the two EMOP's and or Nozzles the entire upper intake has to be removed.

Old thread revival, but i have seen some activity in the SOHN thread and curiosity bit my tushy. Anyone know if any progress was made on this? ASH brought up some great points, and I was wondering if the engineering team validated his concerns during their research or if the development never got footing

This silver tube is the oil pick up (feed), but I am not sure if pressure is needed on this feed or if the EMOP's make the pressure needed for the system to run right. Also, I am sure there us some type of return to the sump for excess and that would need to be addressed.

We've had a few Series 2 engine failures in the UK and quite a few owners would buy an S2 version. However, i can't see how the oil system can be modified to use a separate oil source at an acceptable price, and even then I'd be concerned over reliability.
In the meantime I'll continue using Protek R

so when I bought a RX8 GT 2010 I wanted to use one too..
I recently emailed Rotary Aviation to see if one was ever on the cards,
and they said no,
I even asked what sort of money would be required to pay them to do the develop one and they said thery are not interested,
SO buggered if I know,

I have been too lazy to even look at the OMP,

The series II Renesis lubrication setup is completely different and implementing a typical SOHN setup is just not feasible and will never happen from Richard Sohn since the market for such a product just doesn't exist.
