Racing beat header just not fitting
 

So I am trying to put on the RB header on my 09. Have eveything off and just cant seem to get the header to go on there. I am going from the rear towards the front and it seem to bind on the chassis. Any pointers? I tried raising and lowering the engine a bit.

Undo both motor mounts and jack the engine up, if that doesn't work then have a buddy take a pry bar and with the engine jacked up try to push it over towards the drivers side as much as possible. Should be able to jam it in there then.

OK, tightened it all up and have a leak somewhere. Does the RB provided gasket (header to cat) replace the stock gasket or goes in there with it? There are recessions in both the cat and header so I am not sure. I just used the stock on and think that may be my leak. Also going to tighten up the o2 sensor just a notch as I was taking it easy on it. I think the header one is ok bc I have low mileage and didn't take the gasket off.

you get this thing on without any leaks ? thinking of getting it but want to make sure you were able to get on ok first , thanks

They fit :)....you can't reuse the stock cat to manifold gaskets or they leak.

Ok cool , i have this on order from RB now. I assume RB provides a gasket then or do i have to purchase ???

I think they are $10 or so from the dealer :)

I installed one of these recently and it was the biggest PITA ever. Same problem, outer tube for the middle port creates too tight of a fit between the chassis/subframe/engine when trying to slide it into place. Finally managed to get it in without moving the engine, but only after much cursing, whining, and screaming about who designed this stupid thing so poorly.

Little did I realize that getting it into place was even easier than getting my hands in to start the nuts on the exhaust studs. Must have dropped those damn nuts no less than 50 times trying to position them into place. There is no benefit to the way it's designed is the most infuriating part. Did the install for someone else, never again ...

So after all the sweating and cursing and money spent was it worth it? Feel any different?

I can't speak out of experience, but based on the average experience of others, the gains are not worth the cost at all... a few hp at best. Lots of discussion about this, as well as a soon to be released product by a vendor here that will probably net better gains than the RB header ;)

Or get rid of the OE flange arrangement and install a proper collector on it with suitable midpipe connection

It will still be a pita to install though ...
