Best drop in air filter S2

Time for a new filter. Is the K&N still the best option or has something better come along?

K&N = engine sand blaster (garbage)
Best is OEM.

Care to explain? Never heard anyone say anything like that about them. I know some are not crazy about oil filters in general.

Xero is correct, K&N is not recommended.
Read this for K&N air filters vs OEM and where the 'sandblasting' reference comes from: https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-tec...1/#post3849277

The 450hp 3-rotor RX-8s in Grand Am used the stock paper filter from the streeet RX-8's. Considering that they could pick any filter that they wanted, it indicates just how good it is at both filtration and how well it flows air.

@Prophet:

The Filtration Quality of Aftermarket Ait Filters isnt that good in general. And ... of course ... the OEM Air Filter Unit is very good .. it has a lot Surface Area so that there is enough flow (that is with the RX-8 ... many cars gain some Power cause the OEM air Filter Box and/or Air filter restricts the flow thats why many ppl use Aftermarket Filters in them) and the Filtration Qaulity of the paper filter is very good.

The only useful effect of an Aftermarket intake is the sound. It may be better fit your style ... but you may also loose some power without good ecu tuning after installing the Aftermarket part.
