What I'm doing:

I've decided that the best way to catalog different wheel/tire fitments on the Rx8 was to make a master-list of everyone's setup and previous setups. After a large group of people have posted there setups then I will make a new thread for the master-list.

Why I'm doing it:

To provide the guys who routinely help out in The Will It Fit Thread a break by preventing the same questions from being asked over and over again and to make the information more easily attained for information seekers.

Post should include:

Wheel size and offset
Tire brand and size
Suspension info
If a spacer was used and if so what size
stock, rolled, pulled, or trimmed
Problems or not

Fender-wells: torn to pieces?

Problems: Rubs. A lot. Can't get away without a roll, here. If you try to, it'll rub so much that the rear tires will eventually pull the inner lip DOWN with them, instead of up. Once you get a roll, it's alright. Rubs occasionally. If you get the wheels and tires without stiffer suspension your fronts will rub so much that they'll actually slow you down during cornering. It'll also look like a monster truck without it lowered.

I am thinking of adding 15mm spacers on all corners. From the research i did, it will just fit without rolling fenders, but very tight. I will find out when i have money for the spacer.

I have the most experience with the 17X10 +25 fitment issues so I'll indulge:

Rims: 5zigen Timeattack/Redline FN01r-C 17x10 +25

Tires: Nitto NT-01 245/45/17 and Nitto NT-05 255/40/17

Suspension: HKS Hipermax II Coil Overs

Spacers: LOL!

Fender-wells: Must be modified

Pre. reqs.: This setup REQUIRES coil overs. Do yourself a favor and don't cheap out on them and use springs, you will rub A LOT regardless of what you do.. The only other option is racing springs, and I'm not talking lowering "racing" springs, I am talking custom ordered high spring rated springs on a modified aftermarket strut. Also the stiffer you make the car, i.e. strut bars, sway bars, roll bars, under braces, the better.

Problems: Even at stock height it rubs... Bad. Lowering not possible without fender modification. When lowered at the degree mine is (pretty much "slammed") you need to do a few more modifications beyond rolling.

Solution: Fenders MUST be rolled. This isn't even an option at stock height. The fronts don't have much of an issue until you slam the car at which point the side marker light mounting area digs into the tire. this must be shaved and new methods used to attach the side marker or grind the area including the screw back as much as possible. When turning th wheel comes in contact with the fender liner vents, it wont harm the tire (even the soft R compound tires I run) just let it rub itself a path. The rears are another issue. It will take some aggressive camber to get the wheels to fit even with the lip being rolled. Along with that the fender liner in the back half must be cut because of the angle it is molded into it is quite rigid and will rib back against the tire and bind so cut it till it is flat like the rest of the liner. If dumped the car will rub the UHMW bumper mounting pieces, this also must be shaved down to allow the tire to clear. The the piece will do no damage (other than rub/heat marks on the upper sidewall) to the tire due to how soft it is but it will constantly rub the tire and that is no bueno..

Conclusion: This setup will fill your wheel well better than nay other setup we have available without pulling your fenders. (ugly) But the lower you want to go, the more work that needs to be done to allow them to function properly. The work needed is well worth the benefits.

Suspension: Bilstein PSS9 coilovers on rediculously low, not sure on drop but at lowest recommended

Spacers: I NEED 15mm spacers on the back and 10mm on front

Fender-wells: Rolled but didnt need it

Problems: None, zero, in fact i wish they made the wheel in a +35 offset but the only one with a 35 offset is the 5x120....

Any information that people don't feel bothered by posting is appreciated. I just figured that the large majority of people wouldn't know their ride height right off hand.



I'm thinking about making the master list into 3 categories.

No modifications required

Rolling required

extensive fitting required

Then under each category I will list everyone's setups by rim size.
