Yay or Nay???

I like these wheels and the price is just right. Just need some opinions. They'll be 18" if I order 'em. Cant afford 19s just yet. :(

Yes? No?

DARKMAZ8 03-02-2005 03:40 PM

how much do they weigh?

TxRx8 03-02-2005 03:49 PM

Uh hold on...

*edit*

They dont have the wheel weight listed, sux. But they do have this:

COLOR HYPER SILVER DARK, Model EVO, Made by HP DESIGN wheels, size 18x8 , bolt pattern 5x114.3 with a 38 offset.

Will they even fit on my 8?

dankgummy 03-02-2005 03:59 PM

I really like the design. someone else just bought them and i'm waiting for him/her to post pics on the site. HP design sell really inexpensive wheels so i dont know if they bend easy, heavy, etc. even there homepage is pretty ghetto. there are tons of sellers on ebay that sell this particular wheel model and dont even call the brand out in there listing. as far as looks go, i like it..

TRU681 03-02-2005 04:01 PM

It's a yay for you Ti gray 8.

DARKMAZ8 03-02-2005 04:05 PM

look nice but I wouldn't put any wheels that are heavier than stock...maybe you should wait till someone gets em and scales it up......It's your money

I like the looks of them

TxRx8 03-02-2005 04:05 PM

Thanks guys. BTW, will my Potenza's fit on these. I'm a real cheapo this month. :D

TxRx8 03-02-2005 04:08 PM

The weight isn't really a big factor for me, unless it's a dramatic weight gain then I'll say, "screw these rims!" But I like the design of the spokes and especially the price. :D

XDEEDUBBX 03-02-2005 04:09 PM

you cheap ass!!!!....im in the middle of yay and nay

I'm a budget Rx8 owner. :)

bmcc49er 03-02-2005 04:16 PM

Hey those are the same rims I put up for opinions. I think they will look good.

Around $700 shipped. Not bad.

TxRx8 03-02-2005 04:22 PM

I'm tryin' to find a better pic of the wheels so I can photochop them on my 8. Once I find one I'll post it here. :D

bmcc49er 03-02-2005 04:27 PM

Keep in mind the pic of the rim used was at a slight angle and behind the rim should be darker then it is in this chop.

Also considering these. Only thing i don't like about the Evo's is talk about time consuming to clean.

Where are you buying them? Did you see anything about a warranty? I emailed the guy and asked the weight and warranty but no response yet.

Just got the response. 24 lbs each and 1 year manufacturers warranty.

TxRx8 03-02-2005 04:57 PM

Oh I'm getting these! Keep ya'll posted! :D

RA-Eight 03-02-2005 05:01 PM

If you like the style, and you are on a budget, which you are, go for it.

I'd say nay just because of the weight alone. If I were in your shoes, I'd save that $700 for when I can afford better, lighter wheels. If only they were 17-18 lbs, and $700...ah that would be too good to be true. Good luck deciding!

RA-Eight 03-02-2005 05:02 PM

Just saw that you've made the decision...keep us posted on the weight of the wheels and w/tires mounted!

Homeka45 03-02-2005 08:06 PM

Don't look like much fun to clean. But as long as you're happy. :)

bmcc49er 03-02-2005 08:17 PM

Thats my concern. Cleaning with the brake dust we get, damn. I guess these wheels will fit the stock size tires without problem? 18x8 38mm offset 114.3 bolt pattern?

Yeah, cleaning these puppies is gonna take some time, but I dont really mind. I spend hours cleaning my 8, what's another couple of hours. :D DarkMaz says the stock potenzas will fit so I'm not that worried. What I am worried about is the tpms. I hope it works with these rims. We'll find out soon!

Moostafa29 03-03-2005 09:17 AM

It's a great price, but in some cases you get what you pay for. Guess the rims aren't really my style either. I say wait and get some classier ones, bbs, or volks if you like that style.

TxRx8 03-03-2005 10:07 AM

I really looking around for rims right now. These will be the #1 pick until I find something else I like. These are looking mighty good right now tho. :) There's some other ones I have in mind but i dont now yet. We'll see. I really appreciate all the input guys, thanks again.
