Will these wheels fit my car?

I understand the wheel characteristics for RX8s are (correct me if im wrong), mine is a 2007 RX8.

bolt pattern is 5 x 4.40/114.3
offset range is 35-55 mm (for stock, not lowered)

I want to get:

18x7 Drag DR-50 Silver w/Machined Face 5x100 - 5x4.5/114.3, Offset 40mm

Will these wheels fit my car?

Thanks

Yes they will fit. Yes they will look lame as hell.

Why will they look lame?

Because they are an inch narrower than stock wheels with less offset.

dieseldakota 04-09-2014 11:27 PM

Ya they will be recessed into the wheel well pretty good and skinnier.

This would be the exception to me not liking skinny. And liking fatties!

JurassicIce 04-09-2014 11:40 PM

what does that mean? can someone give me an example of how it may look

Imagine a widebodied car with stock wheels or the exact opposite of mexipoke.

again, would be nice if I had a picture. Will the rims be sticking too far in or too far out?

Is it really that hard of a concept to grasp?

Try looking at pics of the many wheel threads on this forum and you can compare the pics with the specs listed and it will give you an idea of how they will look.
I also agree that a 18x7 +40 will look like ass. Why go for a thinner wheel?

Mr_Pieper 04-10-2014 02:59 PM

Stock is 18x8 with an offset of +50mm. Go slightly wider with a slightly lower offset. Easy as pie, but not pot pie. Those things need to cook like forever.

I wasn;'t sure how they would look. I wanted them to look normal. I am having a hard time looking for advan model t5 alternatives.

What number offset do I need to look at for it to not be deepdish? I understand the offsets by Positive, Negative, and Zero. not by numbers.

dieseldakota 04-10-2014 11:51 PM

The offset will be different for different width rims honestly i try not to be the guy who tells people to search it, but search it. Look in the how to size wheel thread he gives a range of acceptable offsets for 8 inchs up to 9.5 inchs if I remember right. If you honestly want to go to a 7 inch wheel you will have to figure it out yourself, it's actually pretty easy if you have any spacial logic

The08Rex 04-20-2014 08:40 AM

Yeah you should consider getting 8.5 or 9 even. I run 17x9 with a 27 offset and it fills the wheel well perfectly. Your wheels are going to give you a lot of space.

lots of good calculators out there to help you understand what the different rim sizes will do to your stance. I believe there is one on this forum under the tools at the top of the page but I love this one myself:
