Wheel weight database
Just letting you guys know that I've FINALLY gotten around to updating the wheel weights database at www.wheelweights.net It took a while, but there are approx. 2500 wheels and weights listed now. Please PM or email me with any additions or corrections. :D

Very good website. Thanks for all your time.
|
Thanks.
|
I use your site alot but i was wondering to how you obtain the weights? Are these the weights that manufacturers provide, first hand experiences from users, a little of both, or something else.
Just curious. |
Mods- This may be worthy of a sticky!
|
Oh my goodness. My prayers, answerd. Is there, maybe, a god? is it wheelweights??
|
That's awesome. Thanks so much man, really going to help make my decision easier when I look into getting new wheels. Mods, can we please get a sticky on this?
|
thanks for the info.
have been looking at the site for a while now.... thats why im drooling over the 20" forged BBS RS-GT alloys..... they are f'ing exxy though.... :( just a quick one..... the weight quoted.... does it incl. the tyre? :o |
Could anyone find Axis Hiro's on there? I couldn't.
|
They have them, page 2 of the alphabetical sorting. Has 4 different sizes. 18x8.5 is 22.5 lbs. Heavy wheels
|
Thanks, CVL, for the update! (wheelweights = CVL from the forums at miata.net)
Definitely sticky worthy - and when people are considering wheel weights, be sure to have read the "unsprung weight" sticky thread and the "staggered sizes" thread... ;) Regards, Gordon |
wheelweights,
You are the reference standard for wheel weights in automobiles. The numbers are sometimes suprising if not shocking. Having load ratings (not a miata concern) and other information such as approval ratings (TUV, etc) would also be nice. Such info is probably hard to come by but interesting none the less if you have it. Looking at your list, I still can't believe that Enkei ever produced the 60lb Kriminals. It just blows my mind how that wheel ever made it to the street. I wonder how many brakes have ignited in flames (or tire-balancers been broken for that matter) because of that wheel.

Maybe someone could compile a list of wheels for the RX8 that are TPMS compatible? Thanks. :) Edit: I knew I'd seen it somewhere. WTF no Turbo already made that thread, sorry 'bout that. |
Didn't see mine up there.
Enkei RPM2 in 18x8 +35mm offset 18.5 lbs |
Thanks guys. I'm not going to list load ratings since they are harder to come by and would only make the pages larger in size. I'm trying to keep them as minimal as possible to keep the filesize down for faster loading.
The Enkei RPM-2s are listed. 19.4lbs for the 18x8 that I measured. Generally, a 1lb difference (plus or minus) is normal due to different weights for different offsets. |
i did not see the rx8 wheels listed (i did a search and also looked by size)? just curious, as i have the info somewhere else.

your info won't be accurate without at least listing the offset and also potentially the application. An SSR Comp 18 x 8 wheel with 48mm offset will weigh different than the same wheel with a 20mm offset, maybe more than 1/2 lb

assuming people read the wheel technology page through
so then you're just compiling a list of data that's hit or miss on accuracy? |
