Wheel Refinishing??
2 Attachment(s)
Does anyone know a DIY method of refinishing wheels? Here are some pics of one of my wheels. All of the other wheels lips are like the dull part in these pics. Could I just polish all of the lips? What would I use?

That looks like surface rust to me.
You might be able to polish it out, but I think wetsanding is more in order to get that type of deposit off. |
Try Mother's Mag & Aluminum polish. Works well for me with their Powerball.

you guys dont think thats clearcoat coming off?
|
hmm does look like the clear coat to me.
|
Well, thanks for the suggestions guys. I think I will try wet sanding them, then giving
em a good polishing. |
Second looks tells me that it could very well be the clear. Pics can be deceiving
|
Soooo....I shouldn't sand them?
|
First i would do some research into the finish on the wheel. Call manufacture
Before sanding/or compounding I would try the product that I mentioned If there isn't a clear coat then the product I mentioned should take that out no problem. |
Alright. If it is just a polisher though, it probally won't work. I can run my fingernail
across it and have it catch where the dull starts. |
Always go from a mild to more aggressive approach, therefore start with mild polish and only progress with a cutting compound or wet sanding (in that order) if necessary. You'll be amazed at what simple mild polishing can often do.
