What would 225/40ZR18 to the drivability if the 8?
 

I have a set of tires I'm looking at that are a decent deal. Not sure if I will like the size. (in referance to hieght) Opions tire techS?

Is that a politically correct post? You have something against a certain religion?

As for the tires. Your speedo will be wrong a bit, but otherwise the diffs should be minimal. Why dont you just get the right size?

My track tires are 235/40/18 and run great, can you get that deal on that size? Speedo diff on that size is 2.2% too fast.

Before you buy, check out the Kumho 245/40 18's on www.TireRack.com. Hard to beat the price. I think I paid around 135 per tire a year ago. All the other comperable tires were in the 180 range. It's a good tire too. I didn't even make it a full year on the stock tires. They were bald in 11 months! These Kumho's handle better that stock and are lasting longer to boot. Fits perfect.

Beware of bent wheels. I've bent several of the OEM wheels on the 225/45 profile - reducing the sidewall by 10% is just going to make things worse.

Also, make sure the load rating is sufficient for the RX-8.

Hi all

I have the same problem of having to fit new tires.I also thought off fitting 225/40-18 as they are exactly 3 times cheaper, than the 225/45-18.(here by us in SA) in Rand a 225/45-18 is about R2700 to R3300 per tire, the /40's are between R900 and R1100 per tire.
Can you believe it,they say that /45 is not a common size ?
This now will also let me go for 225 or 235/40.
