Hello to all,

I just picked up my Rx8 and im looking for a good set of all seasons for when I get plates on Monday. I live in Massachusetts so snow traction is just as important as dry traction for me. I searched through some threads but didnt see anthing specific to all seasons just winter and summer.

I was looking a a set of Pirelli P Zaro Nero all seasons priced at $160 per tire with a 60 dollar rebate through tire rack, but they look to have poor ratings for even light snow. I'm looking to stay under 200 for tires what do you guys run for all seasons that seem to work well for the rx8.

Im a spirited driver but winter traction is just as important as summer as I live in Massachusetts.

Any reccomendations?

I can only think of a handful of people here that use all seasons, the rest considers them 'no-seasons', since they give up grip in dry and still can't really handle snow all that well. There are probably more, that just don't mention it.

Alnielsen is the guy that can probably give you good advice, since he uses all-seasons and puts lots of miles on his 8 year round.

Awesome I appreciate it. I'll try to find his page and contact him. I know they have a poor trade off between summer and winter performance but im willing to take the hit for a few months while i save up for designated sets of summer and winter wheels / tires.

Hey, just thought I'd put my .02 in. I'm running the Kumho Ventus V4ES. Very grippy for an all season, do well in the rain and snow as well. That being said, they have a soft side wall which is my biggest complaint.


FWIW I can chase down my friends AP1 S2000 which runs Star Specs on back roads with my winter wheels on. That doesn't say much because it's likely driver mod, but still thought I'd toss it out there.

Snow and dry traction must not be important to you if you're considering an all season on your RX8. Don't ruin your sports car by putting shit tires on it. Buy some summer tires and if you're low on cash pick up some used winters. There are always guys selling used winter tires on this forum for low prices.

I'd say your buddy with the S2K should get some driving lessons.

Regardless, all seasons = poo. The summer traction is shit compared to a proper summer tire and the responsiveness is garbage as well. All season tires are a great way to make your RX8 not drive the way it was meant to.

Besides, doesn't Massachusetts get a decent amount of snow in the winter?

A retarded amount. That storm two weeks ago put 31 inches of snow down over night haha. I was looking at the continental DWS they said they had a softer sidewall but that will not bother me. I use my car for commuting to work daily so i just need a good tire that can handle all weather for now. I just need to save some money for a designated set of winter and summer wheels and tires. That will happen next year

The Kumho Exta ASX is a decent tire too. I had them on my Prelude a few years back. They were really soft so they stayed grippy in cold weather.
