What to do? Rear Lower Tie Rod bent
my rear lower tie rod is bent (one connecting the wheel hub to the mid section with a little screw with a dial on it) where to adjust caster I believe. Bent it drifting and I jumped a curb. Was doing a left hand turn then didnt countersteer in time then the oversteer was too great with the rear sliding out then hit the concrete curb with my rear right rim causing the lower tie rod to bent a little hitting the control arm.

You should take it to a dealership, have that tie rod replaced, have the rest checked to see if there was any other damage. It's hard to tell sometimes, and unless there is a weak piece in the suspension, more than one piece is normally damaged.
Then get a 4 wheel alignment again. ---jps |
Yeah, unfortunately it's usually more than one component that gets bent when you whack a curb.
Take it to a dealer or a good body shop (if they even have specs on hte car), and they can check frame, lower carriage, and each of the tie rods, etc. Hopefully it's not that bad! |

Here is a pic of the bent rod |
Is the control arm supposed to be curved slightly, or was that also bent?

Wow! Think of the lateral forces to do that kind of damage! To be able to bend two solid steel bars like that makes you wonder what those forces did to the frame and attachment areas? Yikes!
You might need a body shop frame straightener. :( |
They are both bent :(
You can see in this pic with my lower arm dropped: http://www.swankmonkey.com/mig/albums/tein/IMGP1561.JPG |
is that a pic of ur install when you did ur JIC coilovers Syntrix?

Yes

Rim....
Rim will be bent 'for sho'.
Spin it and watch it wobble. Bearings will be damaged, need new ones, will last months but will eventually seize up. Please don't ask how I know,,,, . . . doc |
fixed it... only took like 30 mins... now need alignment.
|
Fixed it? How????

I fear I may have suffered the same fate - a bent rod and possibly the control arm as well. Can you share more details about what fixed it? Did you take it to the dealer or a body shop? Just what did you do? I don't have the tools nor the expertice to do this myself - but I want to understand the process. |
Get your wheels checked out for cracks as well. I slid into a curb at about 15 mph in an unexpected snowstorm and broke both wheels on the drivers side. Luckily the only other damage was a bent wheel hub....

Damn?! Broken Wheels?

I had to replace the same two arms on my eight.
The night I bought it, it was about 35 degrees and pouring rain. I got off at my exit and it was not raining and looked dry. I went around my usual fun corner a little conservatively and as soon as I throttled out the car snapped and I locked them down but it went past 90 degrees and crossed the road sliding onto the curb RR first. I replaced the rods myself, dealer ($112) ordered them the next day (Fri.) and I fixed it on Monday, before the wife found out hehe. After that the car performed flawlessly. I pushed the car hard on every curvey road and in the mountains. |
This sounds like an excuse for a call to JIC. :D
|
I did te same thing but my airbag deployed as well:(
I had to go to the dealer It's been two weeks and they still haven'y gotten parts:( |
I just did the same thing. car-part.com has the parts listed for $45. A place in OH will ship a rod for $15 extra and it'll be here in 3 days. Tires plus quoted me 260 for the whole job and an alignment. How hard was it to swap the bushings?

good use of the search button^, but its 3 years old:)
|
figured i should add any info for future dummies:lol:

my rear driver side tie rods is bent both rods are bend and Tyre is slightly curved. please help me. what can i do for that?
|
holy rust batman! You are going to need to replace with OEM or aftermarket (megan). Not much else you can do that would be recommended. Check on ebay for a set of oem used from a wrecker, there should be a ton out there (there usually are).
