Was that a private shop or one of the shops Mackin tells you to go to?

pdxhak 11-18-2010 04:28 PM

It is a local shop, Apex Restoration. Great guys. They have a machine they put the wheel in that breaks the bead and compress the tire back a few inches. This allows them to paint all around the wheel lip. A huge savings and convenience to the owner of the wheels because they do not have to deal dismounting and mounting.

2tone 11-18-2010 04:31 PM

^by the manufacturer with the order or you got them and took them to a shop?

EDIT: answered...damn you and your speed ross

pdxhak 11-18-2010 04:40 PM

I owned the wheels for a couple of years and wanted something different. I drove my car to the shop and they took care of rest :)

Ross_Dawg 11-18-2010 04:41 PM

Still though, when you drop $2k for wheels, you dont want to have to then take those to a paint shop and pay another $300. Oh well :(

exactly. and it probably affects the manufacturer's warranty on the original finish too, even on the part that you did NOT paint over...

Unfortunately it is not a good pic for me to chop due to all the color in the background. Need someone better with PS like Rotr8.

I too would like to see these on an 8.
