Too low for alignment
I recently put in some megan racing coil overs and the car is all the way down. Before you bash me yes I want my car almost unless and undrivable. No alignment shop will give me an alignment.:wallbash: and I don't really want to skip out on this. I have massive camber all the way around and some toe on my rears.
My question is how do I at least adjust the toe on the rear so I don't eat out my tires so bad? Also Would it work if I took off my bumper then went to get an alignment? Pics will be posted soon. |
Find a shop with an in-ground alignment rack.

Some alignment shops will be able to do your lowered car with no front bumper.
|
removing your front bumper is going to do nothing more than get your front wheels to make contact with the rack ramp ... that won't account for the carnage that will happen to the rear end/exhaust on its way up.
|
I was referring to the fact that some alignment machine lasers will not get past the front bumper if it is too low.

Many places just don't want to deal with it doing an alignment that isn't just going to stock and they cannot sell you any extras on top of it.

If you're that low, Just set the camber adjusters at full positive and to a tape measure toe set. You're going to destroy your tires in no time anyway, even with a real alignment. You are bound to be past -2 degrees anyway at least.

camber adjustment bolts are on all four corners at the lower control arms ... bolt with a disk looking thing on it (adjustment cam)

hahahahah you are either good friends with your tech, or they hate you lol
|
Looks similar to how mine got up on ramp last week!
|
Munchy...did you give the alignment shop a big tip? lol
|
you know .. thats a good question. Do you guys tip your alignment tech when they do a stellar job? I am trying out a new shop next week and they are very reputable and "Take alignments seriously", with weight in the driver seat. Anyway, I expect nothing but great work, especially since it will cost 150 lol...
but yea..do you tip them if they busted their ass to dial in? |
Ive done quite a few custom alignments. Sometimes I get tips. Sometimes not. It really depends on the customer. I don't expect it.
|
Have been tipped a couple times, some times coffee & donuts or beer. Rare but it does happen, if you plan on going back or get a exceptional job it might be worth your time. Small signs of appreciation go along way. Most people will go out of there way to help you next time even if they don't get anything
|
Been tipped a few times for things. It's nice to have some appreciation shown toward you. But when I dropped mine on Eibach springs I maxed at 2.5 negative, goes through tires pretty good. Without a camber kit you're still going to eat them anyways.
|
They do have a point, your tires are gunna be trashed super quick. but if need me, take your car to a shop that you know someone there has a lower car. I went to Tire Discounters (Out of all places) and they had ramps made just for lowered cars, granted mine is only on s techs but if you brought a couple pieces of plywood for ease of mind.

No problem. I know Megan racing makes a camber kit/bar for the rear, but I'm not sure about the front.
