Tokico out of business?
 

I was told recently that Tokico was going out of business and to shy away from the Dspecs since warranties would probably not be honored in the future...any truth to this? I tried some searching but came up empty.

I've never had to replace a shock for anything other than road damage or old age. I have dspecs on my car for 3 yrs now.

My buddy went thru two sets of D Specs in a couple of years before ditching them. Each time they blew. His car was never tracked, just a weekend car. There have been quite a few here to post about similar sagging issues as well. That is why I stayed away from them.

If Tokico were to go out of business, that would be a big loss to a lot of car enthusiasts as they make a lot of parts that are widely used.
Either way, I'll believe i when I see it.

Yeah ive seen some dspec - s tech combos and the car was saggin ass....think ill keep it simple and go bilstein-eibach

Shocks aren't there to lift a car. That's the job of the springs. A shocks job is to dampen the movement of the spring.

Wrong, shocks do affect ride height, they work in conjunction with the spring to determine ride height.

Only high pressure nitrogen charged shocks. Low pressure and oem style conventional shocks do not. Determining ride height is not their primary job.

Nope happens with stock Tokico shocks and the same thing for the D specs. I have a thread on it already. I had fairly new springs on and relatively low mileage stock shocks and my car was basically touching tire in the rear. Well, all the mechanics and other "experts" here I talked to insured me that the shocks have nothing to do with ride height, only the springs.

So, I marked my springs and sent them off to Tein to be tested and see what they come up with. They gladly tested the springs and sent them back to me with a document showing they tested perfect. So, I replaced the shocks and the springs (just in case, had another brand new set on hand) all was good and the normal ride height was restored.

Same thing happened with my friends D Spec setup, another local guys stock setup, and with Grungepups car and stock shocks. Mine showed no actual leakage. Grungepup replaced his with Koni's and then ended up having the same exact issue again unfortunately so last weekend we put coilovers on his car and he is getting them replaced by Koni and then selling them.

I have a picture of the other local guys car here somewhere (he is not a member here) and he could not even drive, his shocks were completely blown so the body was resting on the tires.
