Tires Rubbing Going Wild
 

Hey i need help. i bought 18" x 8.5" Enkei RPF1 rims a while back and came with Godyear Eagle F1 all season 245x40 tires. the big problem is that everytime i go over the bump or pothole it will make a screeching noise. tires are rubbing the inside very bad. does anybody know what's my option at this point. as I seem to think that rolling fenders should fix the problem. my other question, are my tires too wide for my car?

first, what offset are the wheels, 18X8.5 shouldn't be rubbing at all. and you wish 245 is too wide for the 8!
second, what are you lowered with?
front or rear rubbing? rub while going over bumps or turning?
we need way more info then just that!!

It shouldn't be screeching... that might be something else.

im running 265/35's with a 35+ offset and have plenty of room to spare. you must have a huge offset or drop or you're issue may be elsewhere

There's no reason for 245x40's to be rubbing on 18x8.5 RPF1's even with a modest drop. You must have an extreme drop and/or a very aggressive custom offset (lower number than 35+).

If extremely lowered the solution is obvious, raise it up a bit to afford better suspension clearances for imperfect roadways.

If extreme offset then you'll need to roll your fenders.

If not excessively dropped or offset then you have bad shocks and/or springs.

We obviosuly need more info on your setup.

offset of the wheels are 40.
my car is not lowered at all.
my rear ones are rubbing really bad while the front ones aren't that bad.
rear tires rub while going over the bumps and turning.
while i have 3 people including me inside the car, the rear tires will rub even worse than before.

You need to get under the car and see what is really rubbing or hitting. There really should be no reason for you to rub at all with that offset and tire size even with a fully loaded cab.

Yeah please do... You shouldnt be anywhere near close to rubbing with those modest wheel/tire specs

other question. is it because the fact my 8 has a regular suspension (16 inch rims) unlike other 8s that has sport tuned suspension?

more like 500 pounds each LOL jk.

that changes the rules a bit. i have no idea what the tire height is on the 16 inch tires.

maybe you could measure it.. or set one old wheel with tire up next to one of the new wheel with a tire and see if there is a difference.

just a simple idea. or you could use a tape measure.

A very very small bit... the wheel heights cant be different enough to make an 18" rim with 245/40 tires rub. I'm agreeing with everyone here that it's gotta be something else. You shouldn't be rubbing on stock suspension with 8.5 +40 wheels... On stock suspension I BARELY rubbed with 10.5 +30 wheels in the back...

something is wrong with your car!!

base automatic with 16inch wheels. who knows the specs on that?
