Tire Tread?
how much rubber is there underneath the tread, my rear tires are bald in the center 1/32" left in the tread how many miles can i drive them before it blows or will what would happen. i currently dont have the funds for some new tires.

Driving normally, it'll last for a good period but amount of grip is limited. I would be _very_ careful driving during wet conditions.

"Slicks" are great for the track, but as cited dangerous in the rain. If you're down to the wear bars you've got some wear left, as they're conservatively constructed for those who don't regularly check their tires. Obviously a priority for near future funds tho'.
btw: if your tires are bald in the center but you still have 1/32 tread on the outer rings you've been overinflating your tires just a bit. |
when you start to see the cord showing through the rubber is when you should feel really nervous. until then you just need to be very careful especially in wet conditions.

huey thanks for the tire pressure tip ive been trying to learn that type of stuff as far as temp and all that where to be in the range that the manufacturer recomends and all that much appreciated to all:)

You get a bit better gas mileage with a reasonably higher tire pressure, but again at the potential expense of rubber wear. Life is full of trade offs. ;)

You'll start seeing the nylon cord before it becomes dangerous in dry conditions.
I'd consider you unsafe if the weather forecast predicts a 30% chance of rain. |
