Tein S

I got my car "lowered" on Tein S springs and I'm very frustrated. I dont if its just me expecting a bigger drop or the guy that put it on for me wrong. The mechanic that lowered the car is and old school guy and I didnt watch him putting them on so I'm not sure if he missed something. There was no preloading done on the front yet because I didnt know something like that exists. I will do it after holidays. I researched on-line they will settle after a week but how big difference that will make , other guy that had tein s on his rx8 told me it took him 2 months to settle and drop nicely... I dont know what should I do??? I dont wanna go to the guy and throw him fit for something thats maybe not his fault. Here's some pictures right after it was done:

It should only take a week or so for your springs to settle. The most you can do is wait now.

Silver_Surfer 12-23-2011 07:52 PM

Go hit some speed bumps., rough roads this weekend.

kondypl 12-23-2011 08:11 PM

what about preloading? Should I do it now or just leave it and wait...?

RX8Soldier 12-24-2011 02:44 AM

those are not preloaded. Sometimes, you can wait for them to settle. But, I don't think it will help in your situation.
Bring it back to the mech. No need to throw a hissy fit! Just explain the situation.

monchie 12-24-2011 03:50 PM

It will settle...just wait for it...if you could wait that long...lol

Yes I will go back Tuesday and will do preloading. You can only preload fronts tho right?? I read about it , loosen bolts two bolts and cruise and wait 30 min , thats right?

Sorry for the big pic but S-techs on stock shocks should look like this. Mine were like yours until I pre-loaded front and rear.

^ Thats everything there is about rear..... Im not sure which bolts he's talking about , especially the bottom one, but then on the other side I found that you cant preload rear , thats why im asking , no reason to get mad.

Im not sure , I'll go to him tmrw to help me do the preload and I'll ask him , how is it supposed to be?

I took someone's advice here about preloading. raise the car up, put it on jack stands and then place your floor jack under the suspension and jack it up. Do it slowly until the suspension is all the way up.

kondypl 01-03-2012 03:53 PM

Front looks all good and even , Im satisfy but the rear looks uneven.... rear passengers side is a bit higher then rear drivers side... Do you think its going to even out with time or do I have to do something about it...??

^ Front looks even and low enough... but rear

Passengers Side

Drivers side (I believe its lower)

Any suggestions???

lordagrabah 01-03-2012 04:31 PM

it could also be where you are parked. my rear sits a little higher if I'm on a slight down slope.

kondypl 01-03-2012 07:13 PM

I did rear preload once more and also I left the side that seems to be higher on a 2 pieces of wood so its little bit more tucked after an hour of sitting its still the same , at least 1 finger gap difference :/

Silver_Surfer 01-11-2012 05:45 PM

How I preloaded mine was to fill my tank, put my car on drive up ramps(dont drive up) and added weight to my cars trunk and interior before adjusting linkages.

kondypl 01-12-2012 08:58 PM

It did settle in but driver's side rear is bit higher , I would say maybe around 1,5cm.... We'll see if its going to settle in by its self , if not I'll try to do something about it , buts its going to be spring....
