tein or eibach springs? (pics included now)

I have narrowed down to these two.
Eibach has good reputation and will preserve most of the ride comfort (I heard), but more expensive. While Tein's are more performance oriented I assume but may have a harsher ride.

The two drops are about the same, but I have no idea what are the springs rates for eibach. Does anybody know?
oh btw, Im leaning bit towards tein's stech springs, due to the price.. :p

Thanx

Omicron 03-12-2004 11:47 AM

Nope, and would love to. Would also like to know what the spring rates are on the factory springs.

Sanguine_Dark 03-12-2004 12:03 PM

I think Eibach is keeping their spring rates a 'secret'. Huff over at Vivid was trying to find out and called them...they said Nope, proprietary and confidential info. I'm getting ready to put on Espelir springs (which I have a sneaking suspicion are actually Eibachs under another name).

XeRo 03-12-2004 12:30 PM

sanguine...are you doing the write up for Vivid?

Sanguine_Dark 03-12-2004 12:44 PM

Xero - Yep...

I'm going to pick up the springs today and I'll be installing next week. Hoping to get some good pics and install tips for those interested. I'll post pictures and so forth when I'm done.

I would go for Tein the drop makes the car look level. Not so high in the front. The ride is nice. I would compare them pretty close to stock.

JeupRX-8 03-13-2004 10:40 PM

Go with the Eibachs. They are very high quality.

thanx people for the input, I actually got the tein springs and installed. the major factor is price. I got the tein springs for $140. :)
the drop is excellent, 1.4 front, 0.8 back. and the looks is exactly what I want, lowered yet not slammed. And the ride quality is still very good, even now I have 19s.

I also have my TE37 installed, will take pics after I get an alignment.

SDFLY 03-14-2004 02:25 AM

springs

Hey Bong where did you get the Tein for $140? Lowest I've found was $155 at Hopupracing...Looking forward to seeing the stance as I am also putting 19s on with probably the same springs.

leegina 03-14-2004 04:19 AM

Showstoppers.com has them for 169 delivered and fast shipment also. I also like the fact that it looks lowered but not slammed and excellent ride so far.

Kel Rx8 03-14-2004 12:52 PM

also which tein
i think theres the s & h

leegina 03-14-2004 09:44 PM

S Tech

Kel Rx8 03-14-2004 11:07 PM

there are 2 applications for the rx8 from tein

leegina 03-15-2004 02:46 AM

S tech is the application their is H-Tech and S- Tech I got the S-Tech. They lower 1.4 and .8 and the car sits level not too slammed. But dont get me wrong if they would of been 1.7 and 1.1 that would of been perfect for me but nothing out that I know of other than coilovers that lowers it that much and looks level. I have about a 2 finger gap front and rear.

S W E E T! Ordered them last night and as soon as they show up I will be installing the Motegi 19s with them, I'm glad you said the stance is right, I thought the Eibachs still needed some drop in the front and liked the specs better on the Teins and from what you say about the ride I'm very excited:)

leegina 03-15-2004 07:42 PM

I think considering having 19's and lowered you will be suprised at the ride. Now I know tires play a role and all but I think you will be suprised. A little of the road joints on bridges are a little louder but normal bumps and such dont rattle the car. I love the look of the car right now with it being level. I have the Eibachs on our Mazda 6 and it bugs me that the front is higher than the rear. Good luck with your springs.

AMUSE 03-16-2004 01:42 AM

tein is better in springs coz i have in install in my car...
do corner is good...

Sanguine_Dark 03-16-2004 01:52 AM

I just finished the install of my Espelir springs...I'm waiting to see the 'settling' over the next few days but WOW. I love them already!!

mdw33333 03-17-2004 12:45 PM

Hey bong, did you get yours alignement yet? I ordered the Tein springs as well, and I'm interested to see how your alignment went. I e-mailed Tein and they told me I might need a camber adjustment kit.

leegina 03-17-2004 11:54 PM

I got an alignment

And I did not need anything special. The front will go about -1 and even more no problem and the rear -1.5 with no problem. Hope this helps. I also have the Teins S-Tech.

mazdaexe 03-18-2004 10:44 AM

Yes, my alignment is good. My car is pulling a bit to the rite, but the shop told me its cuz of my tire needs to break in? Not sure about that, will try like 500 miles and check again.

Bong, if your car's pulling, then it's the alignment. That's BS about your tires breaking in. I've been in the wheel/tire business for ten years and never heard of such a thing.

I e-mailed Tein and they recommended a camber kit be used. Sorry dude.

mazdaexe 03-18-2004 07:43 PM

mdw33333, I though it was kind of BS too, but all the settings was in range, and I remember they adjusted the camber too. Dont remember what the actual value was, but it in the range solid. Could it be possible the the mount and balance was not done well?

mdw33333 03-18-2004 07:47 PM

Very possible. Any vibration or shaking?

mazdaexe 03-18-2004 07:50 PM

No shaking. just at freeway speeds, it gradually pulls to the right.
