Special front brake pads size for sport suspension?
Hey Guys,
I've been searching around for a while and can't seem to find a definitive answer to this question: Are the front brake pads the same size for both the Sport and non-sport suspensions? I have a 2005 Rx-8 with the sport suspension. On Rosenthal's site, it shows two different Mazda parts, but when I checked at Autozone, it only shows one front brake pad matching the RX-8, same on the Hawk site...Is the difference just some internal Mazda part code, or is it a real size difference? Thanks! |
All models of RX8's with AT & MT transmissions, came with 18" wheels and the sport suspension. Except for the base model RX8 with an automatic transmission came with 16" wheels. The brake assembly is therefor smaller.

Hey Al, thanks for the info. Sorry if I sound naive, but just to clarify, although the 16" wheel models have a smaller brake assembly, are their pads smaller as well or just the actual caliper itself? The reason I ask is because I just bought a set of front brake pads for the 8 at Autozone and their computer (as well as their site's system) show only compatible brakes for a "2005 Mazda RX-8", there's no ability to specify sport or non-sport (and I remember reading that sport have the "bigger front brakes"), so I just want to make sure that these will fit.....Thanks!
