Spare tire + lowered ride

I did not find anything searching...

For those lowered with/without kit does the spare tire provide enough clearance to drive on?

does the spare have a larger diameter than the OEM tires or something?

pdxhak 04-04-2008 03:47 PM

that is a good question :) I was thinking it had a smaller overall diameter thus my concern.

I just found this post on the overall diameter. Anyone know if this is correct? If so then the overall diameter is smaller which brings me full circle. Anyone with a lowered car thinks it is ok to use the spare tire?

Here is a screenshot comparing the diameter of the two

2" difference? I def. wouldn't drive cause I'd probably be dragging the front of the car along the road with 2 more inches of drop.

ah, i misunderstood your question... stupid me!!

but yeah i agree with wordsofgreen

just remember that a 2" diameter difference doesn't mean you'll ride 2" lower (diameter vs. radius).

Assuming stock ride height then how much lower do you think it will be.

2 inch difference in diameter is a 1 inch difference in radius, so I would say at stock height, you will ride 1 inch lower on that corner.

1" lower will be really close. Currently I have 1.5" of clearance entering my driveway. I may just pull it now. Save weight and my front end

Appreciate the help everyone.
