Somebody tell me what these rims are

Can somebody identify these rims for me? and if you know, how much, what kind, where?

I think those are the Mazdaspeed rims, they come in Magnesium(super expensive) or Aluminum. The aluminum will be less expensive but given that it's a Mazdaspeed item it'll still have a fairly heavy sticker price.

I could be wrong about these being the Mazdaspeed rims, if so someone please correct me.

this car is the ORIGINAL mazdaspeed rx-8 showcar. however there are very very very minor differences b/t this and the mazdaspeed parts that are actually available for purchase now, one of them being the wheels. the actual mazdaspeed wheels available for sale are five-spoke, mag or aluminum (think they're actually volk MS-01's, but someone correct me), but they look different from this

i have no idea what these are, never seen them anywhere else, could be one-offs? i actually really like these, think these look better than the one being sold thru ms now.... what are they???

chinx 11-18-2003 10:51 PM

these're the mazdaspeed ones

i was thinking the same thing, i don't like the MS rims that are being sold now compared to the one in the picture...

FYI,...$1350 per wheel not including the $35 caps/wheel...but those are the ones shown on the MS Project/Demo Car...I think in a previous thread someone mentioned around $800/ wheel but that is for this new style that isn't all that great...

Don't get me wrong I think some kind of Gunmetal or hued Silver is the way to go but not with these wheels...

Check out Volk SF Challenge...WOW is all i have to say...

but these come with a hefty price as well....i think on the Volk website they are MSRP 71000 JPY for 19x9.5 which I think is around 660 USD...I'm looking at getting these at the end of the month...the only concern i have is the offset...I think 19x9.5 was +48 which is fine but I want to go with a smaller width in front...19x8.5 which I think the offset is like +42 or something...anyway probably said to much here...so kill me...

oh yeh...if your interested still in the MS wheels, contact Chuck at RotaryExtreme he can get them for you...

If weight is a major factor in your purchase decision, be sure to check the weights for those wheels. They aren't the super-light 1-piece forged style that make other Volks (TE-37, etc.) so popular with the wheel weight fanatics.

these are Forged wheels, and they are fairly lightweight and close to the weight of the TE-37 is the same size. I believe they are 2 piece wheels. If you are concerned about weight, get the Volk Racing Magnesium series - very light, very fragile, and very expensive ($1500+ a wheel).
