Should I Go with Jic Magic OR Hks Coilovers?

I trying to decide to go with the JIC FLT-A2 Coilovers or the HKS HyperMax II coilovers, please help thank you.

i have the hks, no complaints. i cruise around w/ setting at 15 front and rear on the street. when i turn it 5 clicks stiffer it gets a little harsh on uneven roads. i have yet to take it the max. i have heard the jic make noise. the springs squeaking or something im not sure

I have the hks. In hind sight I think I would have gone with the RS over the Hypermax II's if I drove the car any more than I do now. I also am usually right around 15 front and a few less rear since I have wider tires in back and go about 5 or so harder when I drive on a track.

It's not the best ride for around town unless your roads are in decent shape (not the best for winter climates where the roads take a beating).

It's hard for us to recommend much without an application in mind.

i see more people probably have the hks setup but why not jic .

I have the JIC...only thing out at the time i bought them. Don't have any complaints about them...the customer service for the problems I have had have been handled very well by JIC USA. The quality is good...and I have tracked them hard for 2 years......

I don't think there are any really large differences between the 2. I think the HKS are steel cartridges...and the JIC aluminum alloy.....but I may be wrong.

Very similar springrates, similar price I think......

JIC damper bodies are steel, but the lower mounting brackets are aluminum.

I have JICs on my Miata and love them, but I don't have any experience with them on the '8.

HKS ftw!

with the the hks, do you have to take off the wheels to make adjustments to the stiffness?

turbosa22c 01-01-2007 03:03 PM

you adjust the front from the top and the rear through the trunk by cable and knob

not at all, the fronts adjust just under the front strut bar and the rears via remote cable in trunk

+1 MILLION for HKS. i have the hipermax RS and love them!

i've had jic coilovers for 3years now. absolutely no squeaks or anything like that; it's very well built.

i think it's the one to get if you'll track your car.

if you want comfort while driving around town though, i wouldn't get it. well i would say you should stay away from all coilover setups in such case. it makes the ride way too stiff imho.

just ride in one before you get one for youself. it's phenomenal for tracks and such, but it's not really practical even with the softest settings in all front & rears.
