I don't think our cars have "struts", per se. We have shocks. The reason I say this is because I've read how "strut bars" don't really do much for our cars.
The Bilstein shocks in the Shinka may be better than the stocks, but they are in no means the same as the aftermarket Bilstein's. To illustrate the point, our normal shocks are Tokico branded OEMs. The Bilstein's used in the Shinkas are Bilstein branded OEMs.
Getting the aftermarket Bilstein shocks will definitely be a great upgrade - even compared to the Shinkas.
I sent him the list, I think he did.

Black Cherry Mica (code 28W) is unique to the 2005 Shinka edition, as is its "parchment" tan full leather.
However, the 2004 Miata came in Radiant Ebony that has the same 28W color code.
The 2009 Mazda6 came in a somewhat similar, but different code, Black Cherry Metallic.
edit: the 2005 Shinka has Tokico (Hitachi) shocks. "Struts" in this context are just another name for shocks (or dampers). First coined by McPherson. We also technically have "coil overs" since the springs are over the shocks, but that term is better applied to truly integral shocks/springs.

That's a little confusing. The 2005 Shinka came in Black Cherry (dark cherry). I do not believe Black Cherry is a normal production color.
The 2006 Shinka was a trim level that was made on VR, WWP, and Galaxy Grey RX-8s. Those three colors are normal production colors.
The normal GT leather seats are black. The 2005 Shinka had Tan leather seats. The 2006 Shinka's had leather/alcantara seats. The one's I've seen commonly are white leather with white alcantara. I don't know if there are other color leather/alcantara seats.
Edit* Misspelled alcantara as alacantra.

^woopsies, I should have double-checked what the Shinka actually had. The reason I bought the shocks vs struts up was because I didn't feel comfortable interchanging the two terms. Thanks for the explanation
And thanks for the info on the paint colors, Black Cherry is HAWTNESS.

They never made it in Velocity Red, the colors for 06 Shinka's were Copper Red, WWP, Galaxy Grey, and Black.
btw copper red is the true shinka of 06. The copper red stitching on the white leather seats is copper red.

I WANTZ WHITE LEATHER SEATS
If that's the case, I'm thinking Copper Red is a unique color as well? I don't remember there being another Red besides VR. I know WWP, Galaxy Grey, and BB are normal colors.

I hate to type something I am uncertain of. Trying to research if the 8 has struts or shocks and I get a yes on both. Some websites list them as shocks, others at struts, others say struts up front...shocks in rear(most FWD vehicles are configured like this). I honestly can't say for certain if they are shocks or struts or a combo. I just know the car handles insanely well :-)
I want to research this further so we know for sure. I did not take pics yet, haven't charged my camera and it's been overcast here. Actually rained this morning but it's suppose to clear up by tomorrow afternoon, we will see how the weather looks and I'll take pics.

Read your thread, how much of a PITA was it to convert your fogs to HID? I want to do that, I think it looks kinda lame when the headlights are on and the fogs are halogen. Even more lame you can't run just the fogs without the low beams on.

Have a 06 and has the foam fill spaces im the body. Drilling holes to mount hose clamps and foam came out with the bit. Can't tell for sure about the shocks but I have a lot stiffer ride then my friends 07, ride height is about the same

The shocks are no different, I have swapped suspensions on a few Shinka's, I have no clue where the Bilstein BS came from, only the (in the U.S.) 2008 40th AE and the 2009+ R3 have Bilsteins, I have swapped suspensions on both of those as well. And whatever those models are called in other markets.

Lot's of them are listed as Shinkas when they are not, there is an explanation somewhere but I am too lazy to find it. But if you have grey and black cloth interior then you don't have a Shinka, unless the interior was swapped but there are many ways to identify a real Shinkas, just post pictures of your car.

I am telling you that VIN searches (not Mazda) show cars that are not Shinkas, listed as Shinkas. Determining whether a car is a Shinka or not is very easy and whether one is a real Shinka or not is easy to find out if you search for what makes a Shinka, a Shinka.
You have a 2005, here search for your VIN

Many have bought RX-8's listed as Shinkas that are not Shinkas as a result of this little glitch. And then they come her and get all pissy and defensive when they are told they were misinformed and do not have a Shinka. But if you don't do enough research to really know what you are buying then I don't feel sorry for these people.
