19" Axis hiros take the sensors no problems...

cortc 06-12-2004 09:22 AM

Most one piece wheels take them, some multi piece... It has to do with the angle of the valve stem mounting hole and the shape of the wheel behind it...

MrWigggles 06-14-2004 04:42 PM

cortc,

Yes, according to Tirerack most wheels do take them. It is strange that the Mazaspeed wheels don't take them and they are one-piece, correct?

Thats what Mazda says, but I have heard they do work...

Try this:
TPMS Service Bulletin. The sensors go into each wheel and are also called wheel units.

they work with ssr wheels

MazdaManiac 08-04-2004 03:15 AM

To disable the TPMS, go to this thread: https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-do-yourself-forum-73/diy-disabling-tpms-35708/

Glad to see they will work with Axis Hiros....currently at the top of my list for aftermarket wheels.

can't we just trash the TPMS, it's not even right half the time. Almost every morning last month they went off because my garage is at like 67 F and outside it was like 98 F and when I pulled out of the garge the TPMS went off and each time i checked it and they were all at 30psi. Is there anything wrong with trashing them when I get a new set of wheels?

Sure, you can trash the TPMS! Have the sensors removed and re-balance the wheels(optional if you want to save weight), and/or follow MazdaManiac's post on how to disable the TPMS light :D.

From what you've described, I'm betting your TPMS is working fine, but first: After you pulled out of your 67 deg F garage, how many minutes and miles of driving did you do before you checked the tires and read 30 PSI?

paul yaw designed his wheels for proper fit of the tpms.

connor@tirerack 08-31-2004 01:13 PM

Rather than typing pages of wheels that will work with the OE TPMS sensor you can click on the link below and be able to see the wheels that Tire Rack carries for the RX8 on your RX8.

...knowing that almost no one will click that link unless they think the wheels "look cool", here is a pic:

I just ordered my winter tires and rims, and decided not to deal with TPMS transfer, as when i put my summer rims back on in a few, ill have to deflate the stock tires, put the TPMS back on, and re balance right? Ill just have to deal with the light- Im pretty sure this is correct- but my main question is, is there any way to 'turn off' the light and deactivate? the above link didnt work if anyone has that if they can repost the link it'd be great. Thanks

How much is the option for the tpms sensors from tire rack????

VividRacing.com 11-12-2004 02:48 PM

There is a great deal going on right now for some SSR Speedstars In the vivid racing section these rims will not mess with the TPMS and there for an awesome price!

Try to put them on incompatible wheels and they will either not mount at all, leak, or come off at speed - which would result in a rapid decompression of the tire... not a good thing.

Are those what those lil boxes are....i thought so.....ahh mine are coming off the tire and most are sliding out of place.....would the dealer fix this for free

Sorry for the noobie to RX-8 question (had the car for 3 days) ... so, if I put on different wheels and tires without the sensors, the only issue is anaannoying dash ligh, right? No buzzers, or anything else?

\\Konig\\ 01-30-2005 04:32 PM

does anyone know if the RO_JA R2-5 Mercury wheels will take the tpms sensors? Thanks in advance.

Sorry for the late response. I'm just seeing this today. Yep, you're correct based on my understanding ........ flashing TPMS light only, no buzzer.

I'm putting the 19" Stern Touring Sport II's on my car soon. Anybody know if it will accept the TPMS ?
