Reusing the TPMS sensors and other related questions
I am strongly considering getting the dark chrome factory wheels to be used as daily drivers and putting some super soft compound tires on my original stock wheels and reserve them for ocassional track use.
With that in mind here are my questions: 1. I want TPMS in my daily driver wheel thus I would like to keep my original sensors and move them over the dark chrome wheels. I think I read somewhere where Mazda suggests purchasing new TPMS for any new wheels that you buy and NOT reusing the old TPMS. That seems excessive to me and I would like to avoid that charge. 2. My old stock wheels which I will be using only for the track will need non-TPMS valve stems. This might be a really stupid question but are standard valve stems readilly available for the factory wheels? 3. New TPMS cost about $100+ a piece correct? If they are a lot cheaper than that, then I will just get two sets one for each set of wheels. Not having TPMS in my daily driver wheels is not an option. I had so much trouble with previous car and low profile tires going flat with little notice that I won't make that mistake again. Any info would be much appreciated. I can get you the valve stem hole dimensions off a stock 18" RX-8 wheel if that helps. Originally posted by MrWigggles 3. New TPMS cost about $100+ a piece correct? I'm guessing you already saw the "Tire Pressure Monitoring System Service Tips" service bulletin from the other thread you posted in. |
