Hmm, my car feels weird going in a straight line. It feels off compared to stock alignment.

Any turn at all, even changing lanes feels downright magical. At the last rotary meet in Houston, almost nothing but FD's showed up. The few that grabbed rides with me now want an RX-8. Although when I did this I still had my front shocks turned up to ~80%. The difference between 60% and 80% is so night and day its unreal.

I finally turned them back down for my trip to Dallas.

Too bad Shaunv74 is in Seattle, too far away to meet up and compare settings.

Quick Edit: When the front shocks are turned up the car doesn't turn smooth at all. It turns extremely sharp. The sharp feeling is even present simply touching the steering wheel to keep the car in the lane.

Also it seems I have a popping noise on left turns. Does it around 45mph in what I can best describe as a tight sweeper. I don't have any paint coming off the racingbeat springs so I'm not sure what the noise is. It sounds like a loud THUMP.

hmm. I'm not sure about your noise. Maybe try the zip tie trick and see if your shocks are bottoming out. If so you might be encountering some suspension component interference. Also check the inside rim on the passenger side to see if it's rubbing on anything.

I wanted to post up an update.

I went to a driving skills day yesterday at Bremerton with the springs and new alignment. I must say it handles wonderfully now at the limit.

Around the turning circle I could switch from understeer to oversteer with the right application of throttle. I was attempting to learn how to drift the car around the circle and could get the back end to come out when I wanted. I still can't catch it and keep it going but now at least I can kick it out. :lol2:

through the slalom as I would increase speed I could feel the back rotate more at turn in. It was very communicative and manageable at the limits with application of the throttle and weight transfer front or back. I definitely love this setup!

I wasn't able to get meaningful tire temp. reading though to get some data on my camber settings. The exercises were not long enough to get much heat in to the tires. They were only around 80 degrees coming off a run and only about 10 degrees different from inside to out so not really meaningful. I'll try to capture some data at the next skills day in March.

If your springs are to compressed can you just cut a coil off??? lol

Thought I would bump this with an update

I bought the springs off shaun awhile back and I've been riding them on stock shocks for awhile with absolutely no problems (coils aren't touching/binding, no clunks, etc.)

Recently installed Tokico D-spec's (also low-gas twin tubes) and I was somewhat expecting similar results as shaun, but to my surprise, they work just fine! no coil bindings, they sit pretty close to what OEMs sat at. Haven't measured ride height, but looks to be pretty similar to what it was on stock shocks, maybe just a tad bit lower. Getting no clunks.

Admittedly, espelir designed it pretty poorly with too many coils, but tokico's seem to be compatible so far.

So I'm having the same issue with my driver rear except I'm on Stance coilovers...the coils are too close together and binding on certain bumps and dips...after reading this thread, maybe my spring is to blame? The rear spring rates are 6k and it only does this on my driver rear...passenger rear is fine

Possibly but the stance also have ride height adjustment. Do you know if your ride height on that side is too low?

shaunv74, did you upgrade/replace/trim your bumpstops when switching to the swift springs?
