Question about break squeaking

My brakes have been squeaking almost since I bought my car 1 year and a half ago. They fixed it once by sanding i guess the rotors or something and now they wont do it again because mthe guy said thats only warrantied for 12000 miles. Fro some reason I think thats Bs anyone can clear up the situation for me? Thanks for your help, this is my first post on this forum because im always too busy reading it to write :) . Take it easy everybody and keep up the good work!

ok... next time just search. the brake sqeaking is normal and the only way to get rid of it is to change the brake rotors. thats all i need to say......

Ignore what he said. I think HE needs to do the search....lol.

If you hate handing your baby over to uncaring dolts at a dealership where scatches and dings come from nowhere, then go for a pair of Hawk HPS Ceramics.

I tried the blue squeak spray, lubed everything with high temp grease, cleaned the pads. Squeeek stayed and was a real attention getter.

The new pads are quiet. An occasional small sqeek, but overall a good investment. I have had them for about 4000 miles, and they feel nearly as good as the stockers.

The stock pads had a real nice initial bite. The Hawks are nearly as good.

But do a search.... don't take my word for it!

And certainly I wasn't the first to use them or recommend them.

But if you go for the TSB it is 'free'.

I had my brake pads replaced twice under warranty. Squeeling just comes back.

Unfortunately its the way those brakes are on the RX8...

I just turn up the music..

Also good advice jeffe.

My service department has been 2nd to none, but I realize that some service departments are not naerly as good.

One thing is for sure, if it is just a squeak (no pulsing), the cause of the squeak is not a rotor. Its the pad/backing plate assembly.

DIY. Take off wheel, unbolt 14 mm bolt. Swing caliper upward. Pull out pad. Clean out all that crap in the groove in the middle. Do the same for all 4 front ones. Voila, no squeaky. Just be sure to prep the brakes before you go out and stomp on it.
