Powdercoated my wheels...

Finally did it. Had planned on doing this with the last set of tires; didn't get around to it. Wasn't going to pass it up this time. Local custom motorcycle shop, BDB Customs, did them. Dismounted old tires, PC'd, mounted new tires for $212. $50 elsewhere to have them balanced, and their done. Wasn't overly fond of the color at first, but BOY have they grown on me! Considering darkening the center caps... I'm happy, all and all. Let me know what you think!

I like them. I think they go very well with the nordic green.

MazdaJeff 05-19-2008 08:34 PM

Those are really nice!

Rkesh88 05-19-2008 10:12 PM

I've wanted to do this for a while now. I just need to find a shop that will do it for a good price.

Did you have to do any prep work? or just drop em off and pick em up? $53/each seems like a hell of a deal!

Much less expensive then getting a new set of wheels.

Kudos!

You gotta update your signature pic now!

Looks very sweet, that's the look I'm going for as well, but Whats the deal with the coating insted of getting them painted? I was going to get my painted to match the MS bodykit grey color, what do you recommend?

imput1234 05-20-2008 10:42 AM

looks good, although I think it would be better if the center caps were painted aswell.

Centercaps may be my next project...

No prep on my side at all, minus removing them from the car and sharing my wifes truck over the weekend. Dropped them off Fri, picked them up Tues, had them on the car Wed. The shop quoted $40 each, so overall they added $13 a piece to dismount and mount new, which isn't bad at all.

As for powdercoating instead of paint: durability. Read: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Powder_coating

Thanks for the feedback!

bruce_van 05-22-2008 10:10 AM

Great work. Looks fantastic.

Camel8 05-23-2008 03:04 AM

Nice, i had mine done about a year ago, no flaking, peeling, the gloss and metalic sparkle is just as good as it was when i had them done.

If you do the center caps, let me know how! I have been pondering it for the past year.

XDEEDUBBX 05-23-2008 03:31 AM

looks clean man..

9krpmrx8 05-28-2008 12:14 AM

What paint code or color did you use?

PBlue 05-28-2008 09:02 AM

I had mine done in a black for track rims. I went to home depot and bought some plastic paint and clear coat and matched it perfectly. Pics taken on cell phone btw.
