Potenza RE050A Pole Position
Anyone tried these? I just got the Tirerack update on em, and they are highest rated in catagory. My BFG KDW2's are getting down to about 50% tread, so I will be needing tires somewhat soon. Anyone tried these? According to the rating they should blow away what I have now.....

RE050A Pole Position is a totally different tire to RE050A . I think an apology is in order

I'm no tire expert, but... I got a set of these early this summer (Philly).
Major upgrade over the stock RE040. I drive my car pretty hard. Great feel and traction in any condition. I didn't feel I was even pushing them during a downpour on the expressway. (note to self: get better wiper blades) Winter is right around the corner here, so it will be with a little sadness that I'll have to store these bad boys of summer til next year. :tear: |

Any idea how the noise level is when they get older? They are definately quieter than the stock RE040s. I haven't noticed any change in the noise level since I got them. Ppl have stopped complaining that they can't hear me when talking on the cell while driving. |

FastTrack: I have two sets of questions for you, if you have some free time available.
How many miles did you get out of your RE040s? How aggresive were you on those tires in dry conditions? For instance, did you ever plow through sharp turns at speeds above 65 mph and really push those bastards to the limit, or did you mostly play it safe? Did you buy your RE050A PPs at the same tire size as stock (225/45)? How many miles have you put on the new times? Do you feel that these tires can be pushed harder (driven faster through turns without losing traction) than you could ever push the RE040s? When approaching the RE050 PP's handling limit, would you say these tires are more predictable, less predictable, or as predictable as the RE040s were? Overall, would you say they have significantly better dry handling performance than the stock RE040s? Thanks a lot for your time |

try using the Potenza RE01 R, these tires provide great grip on the road especially when turning really sharp....trust me i know.....i did a little drift action with them too.....oh yea.....when i take off from 0 to 60....they grip so hard that when i shift to 2nd gear you hear the tires screech......pretty hard |

Thanks a lot for your time I felt I drove the RE040s very hard, not hesitating to hit hard turns at 65mph. I did buy the tires at stock size. I think I've put on about 600 miles. I feel I could more easily push the RE040s to the point of lost traction on a dry service. When wet, I'd use a subtle drift-effect to complete some turns. I haven't experienced that with the RE050 PPs. I can't really say I've drive the RE050 PPs to the handling limit, so I can't really comment on the feel/predictability under those conditions. Overall, handling is noticeably superior over the stock RE040. I wish these tires were an option at purchase because in comparison, the RE040 are a waste of money. |

TireRack.com has them for $175. Are they worth it over the BF Goodrich KDW2s or the RE050A closeouts they have?

I guess they must be good. The price in OEM size is now $185....

I've had them for 4 weeks now. 245-40-18's from Tire Rack with Wedsport TC005 wheels. This includes 2 track days at Pocono and 2 track days at Summit Point main course and they have performed beyond expectations. They are quiet and work well in the rain(rained 2nd day at Pocono). Running 32 PSI on street and 36 PSI at track. Until I get much better these tires are good enough for now.
