People thinking about SSR Wheels might want to read this
 

I wanted to have anyone thinking about getting SSR Wheels to take a look at this thread on another car forum. It looks like there may be some major manufacturing defects with these wheels and I wouldn't like to see anyone find this out with a catastrophic wheel failure at high speed. I also heard that the company might be seeking bankruptcy protection as well.

Wow, that's a pretty crappy deal. For as much as these wheels go for, you'd think they'd be better quality. Perhaps it was a bad batch that this guy got? But if SSR is really having manufacturing issues, then I'd stay far away from them. I never really liked their wheels anyway.

They did seek bankruptcy protection - a month ago. Word now (confirmed by Tire Rack this week on www.forum.miata.net ) is that SSR is now shutting down operations and selling off all their equipment. Any existing stock of SSR wheels at retailers and wholesalers is all there ever will be.
