Opinions on Work wheel offset
 

First off, thank you for looking at my thread. My question is that of both appearance and performance. I plan to purchase 18x8.5 Work Emotion wheels (check sig) and will be mounting 225/45/18 Nitto NT555 tires. I already have the tires, so upgrading in size may be in the future.

I am lowered on Tein S-Tech springs and stock struts at the moment. The choices for offset on these wheels are +46 and +38. Obviously the 46 is closer to oem spec, but the 38 pushes the wheel out further to the edge. Which would you choose and why?

+38 will look a lot nicer.

And with the 225's you shouldn't have to roll the fenders to make them fit.

Already rolled from previous setup. ;) I was running 18x9.5 +35 with 275/35/18 tires in the rear.

Very slightly, but not on the metal. It would touch the plastic inner liner where the bumper meets the qtr panel. I should also mention that all of my audio setup weighs an extra 73 lbs. so I'm sure that dropped me a bit lower as well. I could have adjusted camber though and it would have been fine.

How much camber were you running do you know?

no way +38 with a 225 rubs..

i i would not put a 225 on a 8.5in wheel. but no way it rubs.

38+ and why not use 245/40/18 for more performance?

Yea, I don't think it'll rub either. That's not my concern.

Work Emotion 18x8 et 40 or 42 weighs in at 23 pounds. Thats heavier than stock. That's why I shyed away from them. Weight slows you down especially in the 8. Nice looking wheels though.

You are correct, but 1 pound extra from OEM is not going to make a difference for me though. More for style, but thank you.

I am running that very setup on my fronts right now, definitely miles of clearance (and stretch too...doh!) :D:

+38 is my vote, I'd go as flush as possible, wheels with tons of gap either above the tire or from sitting too far in look awful to me, offset is key or else why even bother replacing the stockers :)

I would also like to comment that I approve your choice to slightly stretch your tires. I will be running 225/45R18 Direzza Z1's on my 9.5's in a few days here.

Wow, that's a crazy stretch.

another vote for +38. ....i'm running 8.5 wide wheels at that offset (in 19s though) and i think its perfect.

i'd also recommend 245 tires all around to kind of keep the performance as honest as you can seeing that the offset has changed. my 19s are lighter than stock by a few pounds, and that combined with good tires gives a nice balance between style/performance.
i think the works will look real nice on your car.
